You Are Amazing! Botanical Builder

500pxl Botanical Bldr Cottage Greetings 1

Good Friday morning!  We really had a taste of spring here this week with highs into the low 60’s.  Woohoo!  It made me feel all spring-y inside.  Lol  Today’s post is a nod to spring, with the Botanical Builder Framelits Flower and the fun Sale-a-Bration Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper.  I really love this dramatic color combination with just a hint of sparkle.  [smile]

CARD BASE:  The base starts with Old Olive, layered with Blackberry Bliss and the Stem & Buds design from the Sale-a-Bration Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper Pack.  I toned down the print by topping it with Vellum.  [TIP:  When I have a print that competes with my focal point I top with the a piece of Vellum to soften the brightness.]  Also, adhesive shows through Vellum so you’ll need to strategically place your adhesive.  I put mine horizontally under the Burlap Ribbon and several glue dots behind the leaves and stems.

BURLAP RIBBON BAND:  I started by trimming away the surged edges from the Burlap Ribbon first, first because it was too wide and second because the edges took away from the clean and simple look I was going for.  [TIP:  I kept the serged edges I trimmed away to use in other designs.]  Next, wrap the Burlap Ribbon around the card from the inside to the front butting the ends together.  The flower will cover the seam.    [TIP:  Because the ribbon is so heavy & bulky I ran adhesive around the card to hold in place.  Be careful when placing the ribbon as any wobbliness will transfer to the ribbon and not look smooth and straight.]

FOCAL POINT:  When I first saw the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies I envisioned using Blackberry Bliss for a flower.  When I had checked out the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper I really liked the Stem & Buds design, it features Blackberry Bliss & Old Olive in the design and that may have subliminally inspired me.  Lol!  It took me several weeks and many color combo attempts, then I thought “what the heck” and tried Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  Yeah, baby!  The boldness of Blackberry Bliss  popped even more with the Dazzling Diamond Glimmer peeking out from behind the petals.  The center is Whisper White punched with the Petite Petals punch, lightly sponged with Blackberry Bliss and topped with a couple flower centers, also from the Botanical Builder Framelit Dies set, in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer.  [I cut away the Dazzling Diamonds flower frame and have created another design I will be posting soon.]  The stems with leaves are from the Bouquet BigzL Die in Old Olive.  I sponged these with Old Olive ink to add depth.  I trimmed and combined three of these to create a single stem look.  Finally, the stems and flower were popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Hey, it needed more height!  Lol!

SENTIMENT:  I chose “You Are Amazing” from the Cottage Greetings Stamp Set to compliment the amazing flower.  It is Whisper White stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink and punched with Word Window punch.  I popped this with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well.  Sweet!

I hope you have a great Friday and thank you for popping in today.  Have a great weekend!
