World Map – May Masculine Class (4 of 5)

World Map Im So Grateful

Happy Monday!  I had a fun and sunny weekend.  Saturday was I my monthly card class and we had a blast creating the fun and cute cards for June.  I will be sharing these designs with you over the next few weeks.  I hope you’ll stop back and check them out along with other fun posts!

Now on to today’s post.  I just love the World Map background stamp.  It makes a great all-over subtle stamp OR like we did here, swirled the land and sea areas with daubers.  You can make the colors as bold or as subtle as you like.  I went for bold.  By using the daubers over large areas it gives a modeled effect like maps to show hills and valleys.  First we embossed the map with Gold embossing powder which [of course] gives a subtle bit of shine.  It also helped to keep our swirling daubers close to their lines.  I did swirl outside the lines a few times, but hey, it’s artistic interpretation right?  Lol!  I was looking through the catalog for a sentiment to go with the background and found this perfect fit from Chalk Talk stamp set.  This was embossed as well, then layered onto one oval in Garden Green and the other in Night of Navy.  First I cut out the sentiment and then layered to the far left edge of the Garden Green oval.  Then layered the Night of Navy oval onto the left side, making sure it had the same reveal as the right.  After wrapping around the card three times with the Metallic Gold/Natural Baker’s Twine I popped the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimentionals.  A shout out to Justin Kreiger for his World Map coloring inspiration!  I went with different card stock as well as ink colors, a different sentiment and added the metallic baker’s twine.  I hope you’ll give this fabulous background stamp a try.  I’d love to see what you create!

Great question Pam. The map is actually embossed on Sahara Sand and then colored……..I know! It makes the colors look richer.
