So Many Sparkly Stars

So Many Sparkly Stars

I enjoy taking a stamp set and creating something completely unexpected. As I was perusing the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog. I fell in love with the So Many Stars stamp set. The catalog inspirations shown are geared towards the Christmas Holiday Season. Today’s share “So Many Sparkly Stars” is my outside-the-box take on the So Many Stars stamp set

EMBELLISHMENT: With fall having arrived here in the Northwest my creative juices were leaning toward Halloween. I was trying out the Shimmer Black Emboss Powder. After embossing and die cutting the swirls & stars, the sparkly black look made me giddy. I then wanted something to pop against the black, Granny Apple Green jumped out at me.

I was looking to add more shine and decided to spritz the Granny Apple Green with a mixture of Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. [Perfect!!!] After cutting the same swirls & stars I started layering onto a band of Basic Black. I loved the look. At this point I had an embellishment that needed a home. Lol!

BASE: Layering the embellishment onto the Granny Apple Green layer made the stars pop. [Sweet!] Well……what goes great with black and green ……purple! When I pared this embellishment with Gorgeous Grape I did my happy chair dance. To add the finishing touch I gave the new Scripty Emboss Folder a try. OMGosh! This emboss folder is THE BOMB! It was the perfect subtle background. What do you think?

SENTIMENT: To finish the design it needed a sentiment. I had leftover spritzed Granny Apple Green and decided to use it. Looking at the sentiments included in the So Many Stars stamp set I felt “the stars are shining brightly” would be the perfect fit. I was strong and ended up cutting apart the full sentiment “O, holy night, the stars are shining brightly” and embossed it in plain black. Finally another cool item in the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog are “black” dimensionals. WHAT? Yes, there are now black dimensionals to use with dark designs so you hardly see them. I used them on the green stars and the sentiment. Woohoo!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

Here’s what I used: STAMP: So Many Stars; PAPER: Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black; INK: VersaMark; ACCESSORIES: Dies–Stitched Stars |Emboss Folder–Scripty 3D| Punch–1-1/2″ Circle | Emboss Powder–Shimmer Black & Black

When I had finished my design I showed it to a friend and she said “hey, it has a “wicked” feel.” I didn’t even see that. Very cool! I’d love to hear if you thought I hit the “wicked” feel OR if you love the “Scripty” emboss folder like I do.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’re inspired to get your fingers inky. Have a great day!

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Vertical Greetings Happy Birthday

Vertical Greeting Happy Birthday

Hooray for scraps! I always seems to have scraps laying around on my table. This design was inspired by Gingham Gala strips from a previous project. I was playing with the colorful Organdy Sale-a-bration Ribbon Pack and coordinating Gingham Gala Designer Paper strips (scraps) and created this bright and springy Vertical Greetings Happy Birthday design.

I had just gotten the Rectangle Stitched dies and thought they would be a perfect fit with the ribbon. After playing with a strip of ribbon in each of the five colors I thought wouldn’t it be cool to have them floating in a cut out. Then I pondered how I could make the ribbon float without showing on the inside. Haha!!! Add a front layer and cut through both layers. That was the ticket!!! [TIP: It really needed something so I embossed the front with the Subtle Embossing Folder……oh yeah!]

Next the Gingham Gala strips came into play. I was trying different stamps for the cut out and had my second “ha-ha” moment. The rectangle cutout with the strips adhered to match the ribbon on the card front. Then adhere the rectangle to fit within the cut-out on the card back. I did my super happy chair dance. Woohoo!

Finally I contemplated what sentiment I wanted. I couldn’t find anything that made me happy. No pun intended……Lol! After going through all my stamp sets I came across the Vertical Greetings set and new it would be perfect. I went a step further and made the sentiment float within the cutout. There was a narrow strip of window sheet on my desk and I placed it between the layers like the ribbon strips. Then I adhered the sentiment with glue dots to the window strip. Voila’!!!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s bright and springy design and are inspired to get your stamping mojo on! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Butterflies Card in a Box

Happy Birthday Butterflies Card in a Box

I had fun creating this Happy Birthday Butterflies Card in a Box for my mom’s birthday in December. When I saw the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits in the new 2019 Occasions Catalog I instantly knew I wanted to cut them apart and play with them.

For my mom’s birthday I went over the top designing……Hello! it was for my mom’s birthday and she likes over the top. I hadn’t done a “card in a box” design for a while and thought it would be cute to have to butterflies “flying” out of the box. The bright Melon Mambo and Old Olive for the card in a box base went perfectly with the Sale-a-Bration Lovely Lipstick Foil, Brusho Crystal Colour powders and Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies.

Card in a Box: After building the box I felt it needed texture so I went through my Designer Series Paper stash (Lol!) and background stamps. The Burlap Background stamp jumped out at me. After cutting panels to fit the flaps and sides, then stamping with Melon Mambo. I had people asking if it was designer series paper. Cool!!!

Butterflies: The butterfly base started with Watercolor cardstock spritzed with water, then I sprinkled it with Brusho Crystals–Brilliant Red, Gamboge and Yellow. I made sure to not tilt the paper so it wouldn’t mix together, it would stay spotted. After I layered the Lovely Lipstick butterflies onto to the Brusho Crystal base I cut them apart and placed them with narrow strips of Window Sheet.

Sentiment: Sometimes you need to try several different sentiments and what it is stamped on before you find the right look. This was the case for me. There was a small strip of the watercolor piece so I tried that with Mossy Meadow ink. Sweet! Then I layered the “Happy Birthday” onto Mossy Meadow and Old Olive. I Love it!

Piece of Cake 3 Tier Happy Birthday

Piece of Cake 3 Tier Happy Birthday

They are here!!! What’s here??? The 2019 SU Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-bration Catalog! Sweet! When I received my first order I couldn’t wait to start designing. I started with the Piece of Cake stamp set and pretty Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper. I’m call this my Piece of Cake 3 Tier Happy Birthday card.

BASE: The base is Thick Whisper White layered with five 7/8″ x 4″ strips from the Gingham Gala DSP pack (Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather). This 1/4″ gingham is beautiful AND the opposite side design……is 1/8″ gingham. Either size I use will add a fun, springy whimsy.

OVAL: The gingham designer paper pairs perfectly with the Stitched Shape Framelits. I selected the Stitched Oval. The stitching adds to the cute feel of the gingham print.

CAKE: With the five colors in the Gingham Gala designer paper I had to put my thinking cap on and decide how to use all the colors in the cake and stand. A-HA!!! I used Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist, then Balmy Blue and Highland Heather on the stand. I’m not much into coloring these images allowed me to color minimally OR I could color everything.

I added an additional top tier to the cake image, this gave me the five layers to color that I needed. Woohoo! The Piece of Cake stamp set comes with a coordinating punch for the 2 Tier cake and stand. Double Woohoo, no fussy cutting required!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

  • STAMP: Piece of Cake
  • PAPER: Whisper White, Designer Series Paper–Gingham Gala
  • INK: Memento Black, Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather
  • ACCESSORIES: Framelits–Stitched Shapes | Punch–Cake Builder & Modern Label (sentiment | Blender Pens

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Piece of Cake 3 Tier Happy Birthday card and get inspired to get your hands inky. Happy stamping!!!
