So Many Sparkly Stars

So Many Sparkly Stars

I enjoy taking a stamp set and creating something completely unexpected. As I was perusing the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog. I fell in love with the So Many Stars stamp set. The catalog inspirations shown are geared towards the Christmas Holiday Season. Today’s share “So Many Sparkly Stars” is my outside-the-box take on the So Many Stars stamp set

EMBELLISHMENT: With fall having arrived here in the Northwest my creative juices were leaning toward Halloween. I was trying out the Shimmer Black Emboss Powder. After embossing and die cutting the swirls & stars, the sparkly black look made me giddy. I then wanted something to pop against the black, Granny Apple Green jumped out at me.

I was looking to add more shine and decided to spritz the Granny Apple Green with a mixture of Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. [Perfect!!!] After cutting the same swirls & stars I started layering onto a band of Basic Black. I loved the look. At this point I had an embellishment that needed a home. Lol!

BASE: Layering the embellishment onto the Granny Apple Green layer made the stars pop. [Sweet!] Well……what goes great with black and green ……purple! When I pared this embellishment with Gorgeous Grape I did my happy chair dance. To add the finishing touch I gave the new Scripty Emboss Folder a try. OMGosh! This emboss folder is THE BOMB! It was the perfect subtle background. What do you think?

SENTIMENT: To finish the design it needed a sentiment. I had leftover spritzed Granny Apple Green and decided to use it. Looking at the sentiments included in the So Many Stars stamp set I felt “the stars are shining brightly” would be the perfect fit. I was strong and ended up cutting apart the full sentiment “O, holy night, the stars are shining brightly” and embossed it in plain black. Finally another cool item in the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog are “black” dimensionals. WHAT? Yes, there are now black dimensionals to use with dark designs so you hardly see them. I used them on the green stars and the sentiment. Woohoo!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

Here’s what I used: STAMP: So Many Stars; PAPER: Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black; INK: VersaMark; ACCESSORIES: Dies–Stitched Stars |Emboss Folder–Scripty 3D| Punch–1-1/2″ Circle | Emboss Powder–Shimmer Black & Black

When I had finished my design I showed it to a friend and she said “hey, it has a “wicked” feel.” I didn’t even see that. Very cool! I’d love to hear if you thought I hit the “wicked” feel OR if you love the “Scripty” emboss folder like I do.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’re inspired to get your fingers inky. Have a great day!

Love What You Do – Beautiful Day

Love What You Do - Beautiful Day

I hope you’re having a good Wednesday.  Today’s post is the third in a trio of designs I created featuring the new Share What You Love Bundle.  Woohoo!  I had fun challenging myself to create three different looks from one of the Share What You Love Designer Paper designs.  Many of the designs include shimmer in the design.  Love it!  This sweet design is what I like to call my Love What You Do – Beautiful Day.

I must confess this is my favorite design featuring the Share What You Love Bundle.  What do you think?  You can check out my two previous designs here and here.  Guess what???  I’m excited that you are now able to pre-purchase this amazing bundle through the end of May before the 2018-19 Annual Catalog goes live in June.  Yay!  You can check out all the details here.

This clean and simple design starts with three parts of shine.  The first is the Shimmery White cardstock, second is the beautiful Shimmery Flower designer paper from the Share What You Love Designer Paper Pack and third is the yummy Black Shimmer Ribbon.  I know……Simple But Wow!

The “it’s a beautiful day” sentiment is from the Love What You Do stamp set that is part of the pre-purchase bundle as well.  I just had to fussy cut this to add more interest.  Finally, for a subtle bit of texture I embossed the small Shimmer White rectangle with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder.

To add “more height” I popped several layers with Dimensionals.  [grin]  More height is always a good thing. [giggle]

I hope you have found today’s Love What You Do – Beautiful Day and my two previous designs inspiring and that you’ll get your hands inky and have some fun!

Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll come back soon.  Have a great day!

Love What You Do – Thank You Wreath

Love What You Do - Thank You Wreath

I’ve been having fun with the amazing Share What You Love Sneak Peak Bundle.  What?!?  Yes, demonstrators were able to purchase this amazing bundle before the 2018-19 catalog goes live.  Woohoo!  Today’s post is the second in a trio of designs featuring the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Paper and Love What You Do Stamp Set.  I had fun fussy cutting all those flowers and creating this Love What You Do – Thank You Wreath.

An even more amazing thing is we get to share this same Sneak Peak Bundle prepurchase with your as well.  Yes!  Starting May 1st you can purchase this beautiful bundle.  With all the lovely designs in the Share What You Do Specialty Designer Paper the shimmery Grapefruit Grove floral design spoke to me and while creating my first design (you can check it out here) this wreath idea popped into my head.

BASE:  This time I went with a Basic Black base layered with the new In Color Grapefruit Grove and Shimmery White.  To add a bit of subtle texture I embossed the Shimmery White square with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder.  [My first layer of shine……smile.]

WREATH:  Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment.  But I do find fussy cutting therapeutic.  Most of the time anyway.  Lol!  I had a piece of designer paper left over and started cutting out flowers.  When there was enough flowers I started playing with the pieces until I was happy with the layout.  [TIP:  I used a circle from the Layering Circles Framelits to give me the shape I wanted.] [My second layer of shine……smile.]  The wreath felt like it needed something to finish it.  After searching through my stash the Shimmer Black Ribbon called my name.  [My third layer of shine……smile]

SENTIMENT:  This clean and simple design called for the same type of sentiment.  I went with “thank you” from the Love What You Do stamp set.  I stamped it onto Shimmery White with Archival Black Ink and also fussy cut it.

Love What You Do - Thank You Wreath Interior

There were several partial shimmery flowers left so I cut them out as well and used them to finish the inside on all three designs.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you are inspired by today’s Love What You Do – Thank You Wreath to get your hands inky and stamp to your hearts content.  Have a great day!

Carousel Birthday Horse

Carousel Birthday Horse

When I first perused the 2017 Occasions Catalog I was drawn to the Carousel Birthday stamp set.  First because I loved the Carousel Horse and second that it coordinated with the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  Woohoo!

I had been looking for inspiration to create this Carousel Birthday Horse card.  Well……I was finally inspired by the Global Design Project #077 Color Challenge (Peakaboo Peach, Early Espresso and Bermuda Bay) to create this bright and cheery design.

BASE:  I felt the layout lent itself to a square size (4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″) in Bermuda Bay (1st color – check).  Next I embossed in clear the “Tents” and “Ferris Wheel” images onto a Shimmery White square.  [Gloss on Shimmer – Love It!!!]  Then I layered the Shimmery White square onto an Early Espresso square (2nd color – check).

I wanted to add just a wee bit of Peekaboo Peach.  By taking a small-ish square and cutting it on the diagonal then placing the halves at opposite corners hit the mark perfectly (3rd color – check!).  Finally, I popped it with Dimensionals to add “more height”.  Lol!

HORSE:  The horse had lots of possibilities I chose to keep the coloring to a minimum.  Well……mostly because I don’t like coloring.  (grin)  It was calling out “emboss me”!  First I embossed the horse onto Shimmery White in Early Espresso.  [TIP:  Lightly ink image with VersaMark then ink with desired color and stamp, then heat emboss with clear emboss powder.]  After coloring I did a whole lot of fussy cutting.  Shew!  That was a lotta work.  Then to finish I popped it with Dimensionals and a ribbon bow to cover the top of the pole.

SENTIMENT:  One of the great things about stamps is they can be cut apart for use then put back together for it’s next use.  Sweet!  I heat embossed [same as above] “so much fun” from one of the sentiments in the Carousel Birthday stamp set onto a Shimmery White band and popped with a Dimensional.  Hello……it needed “more height”.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s share.
