Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors

Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors

Happy Birthday ! This is my gift to all those who have birthdays in July (including myself). The Sailing Home Stamp Set and Smooth Sailing Die Set offer many options to celebrate those nautical lovers and those that like all things beach. It is a great card to share on this Independence Day Holiday, Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors.

BASE: It starts with Basic Gray layered with Smoky Slate dry embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. This give just enough texture to make the anchors and sentiment pop.

ANCHORS: I tried just the Smooth Sailing die cut anchor shape, they were too flat looking for me. So of course the first thing I tried was heat embossing the anchor image with clear embossing powder and then die cutting. WAYYYY better! To add height as well as dimension I popped them with mini dimensionals.

SENTIMENT: I wanted to keep the sentiment minimal so the anchors remained the focal point. So I opted for a narrow strip of Whisper White stamped with “Happy Birthday” from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set alternating with Night of Navy and Real Red inks.

Make sure to come back and chech out another design I will be posting using the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing Dies. It also uses the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper that I have fallen in love with.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you find this bold independence day Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors design inspiring to get your fingers inky. Have a great holiday and weekend!

Celebrate! July 4th ~ Swirly Scribbles

Celebrate Swirly Scribbles736pxl B-P

Happy 4th of July!  I hope you’re celebrating this special day with family and friends.  We are still deciding on which fireworks display we’ll go see.  I love fireworks and look forward to ooh-ing and aah-ing.  [smile]  But the most important thing I do today is thanks those that make this day possible.  Thank you!!!

BASE:  When I first saw the Swirly Scribble Thinlits Die Set several ideas came to mind and one of them was this undulating design.  I envisioned a flag blowing in the wind.  After cutting several (5 Lol!) Real Red waves and trimming away some of the die shape I was very happy with the flapping in the breeze look.  [happy chair dance!]  Then I glued them to a Whisper White base.  [TIP: I trimmed the bottom of the card to further enhance the undulating feel.

FOCAL POINT:  The blue square also follows the undulating wave and is popped with Dimensionals.  [gotta get that dimension some how]  Next I topped this with Gold Glimmer Stars from the Confetti Punch.

SENTIMENT:  This design is so strong I felt a simple sentiment would be perfect.  I took the “Let’s Celebrate” from the the Confetti Celebration stamp set and inked only the “Celebrate!”.  Then I fussy cut it out and also popped with Dimensionals.

Thank you for stopping by today on the amazing day!  Have a wonderful day and week!

English Garden DSP – Patriotic Thanks

DSP English Garden Thanks

Good Wednesday morning!  I hope you’re having a good week so far.  I was a happy stamper with last weekend.  I received a box full of new Designer Series Paper.  Woohoo!  I opened each package and “English Garden” spoke to me.  The first paper I saw was this red and white watercolor looking striped paper.  I instantly thought of a flag and went straight to designing.  I wanted to create something that gave you the feel of being patriotic without looking like a traditional flag.  I have to say I was doing my “happy chair” dance when I finished this one.  I am looking forward to being able to share it with someone personally.

CARD BASE:  Starts with a Whisper White Base then a layer of Red & White Watercolor Striped DSP from the English Garden Designer Series Paper pack.

FOCAL POINTS:  I love how the Night of Navy strips fit within the white and the notches add just a nice touch.  The Silver Glimmer stars help to fill in the the white stripes, they are a die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die Set.  There are 6 in a row so it made quick work of cutting them out.  LOVE IT!

SENTIMENT:  The “Thanks” is from the Hello You Thinlits Die Set cut from Silver Foil.  TIP:  I highly recommend using either the wax paper or fabric softener sheet technique to more easily release the cardstock.  Either will works, it’s what is your preference.
