Little Ladybug Trio

It’s been a while since my last post. I went back to school and working full-time kept me busy. I have taken a break from school and had fun getting back to my studio and designing. Getting back to my happy place has been so relaxing! To start I made a trio of designs using the Sale-a-bration Little Ladybug stamp set. The first one is this Little Ladybug Trio.

SAB 2020 Little Ladybug Trio

Flirty Flamingo is one of my favorite colors. After I finished coloring the trio of Ladybugs I did my “happy chair dance”. The bright, light color make me happy. Ooh, I did black emboss them first which made it easier to color within the lines.

I did fussy cut my ladybug trio, BUT, there is a Ladybug die set. Woohoo…no fussy cutting!

So Many Sparkly Stars

So Many Sparkly Stars

I enjoy taking a stamp set and creating something completely unexpected. As I was perusing the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog. I fell in love with the So Many Stars stamp set. The catalog inspirations shown are geared towards the Christmas Holiday Season. Today’s share “So Many Sparkly Stars” is my outside-the-box take on the So Many Stars stamp set

EMBELLISHMENT: With fall having arrived here in the Northwest my creative juices were leaning toward Halloween. I was trying out the Shimmer Black Emboss Powder. After embossing and die cutting the swirls & stars, the sparkly black look made me giddy. I then wanted something to pop against the black, Granny Apple Green jumped out at me.

I was looking to add more shine and decided to spritz the Granny Apple Green with a mixture of Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. [Perfect!!!] After cutting the same swirls & stars I started layering onto a band of Basic Black. I loved the look. At this point I had an embellishment that needed a home. Lol!

BASE: Layering the embellishment onto the Granny Apple Green layer made the stars pop. [Sweet!] Well……what goes great with black and green ……purple! When I pared this embellishment with Gorgeous Grape I did my happy chair dance. To add the finishing touch I gave the new Scripty Emboss Folder a try. OMGosh! This emboss folder is THE BOMB! It was the perfect subtle background. What do you think?

SENTIMENT: To finish the design it needed a sentiment. I had leftover spritzed Granny Apple Green and decided to use it. Looking at the sentiments included in the So Many Stars stamp set I felt “the stars are shining brightly” would be the perfect fit. I was strong and ended up cutting apart the full sentiment “O, holy night, the stars are shining brightly” and embossed it in plain black. Finally another cool item in the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog are “black” dimensionals. WHAT? Yes, there are now black dimensionals to use with dark designs so you hardly see them. I used them on the green stars and the sentiment. Woohoo!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

Here’s what I used: STAMP: So Many Stars; PAPER: Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black; INK: VersaMark; ACCESSORIES: Dies–Stitched Stars |Emboss Folder–Scripty 3D| Punch–1-1/2″ Circle | Emboss Powder–Shimmer Black & Black

When I had finished my design I showed it to a friend and she said “hey, it has a “wicked” feel.” I didn’t even see that. Very cool! I’d love to hear if you thought I hit the “wicked” feel OR if you love the “Scripty” emboss folder like I do.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’re inspired to get your fingers inky. Have a great day!

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Sailing Home Gold Anchor

Sailing Home Gold Anchor

Today’s share is my second design featuring the Sailing Home Bundle. After creating my Red White Blue Anchors design I wanted to create something in the total opposite direction……from Bold and bright to soft and subtle. My Sailing Home Gold Anchor card is my take on subtle and neutral.

BASE: The base starts with Sahara Sand layered with a Balmy Blue strip embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. Next a Whisper White rectangle layered with a smaller Striped Come Sail Away Designer Paper rectangle were adhered to the Balmy Blue.

FOCAL: This starts with a slightly smaller Whisper White rectangle generation stamped three times using the swooshy image from Sunshine Saying stamp set (vintage) in Balmy Blue ink. First you stamp the fully inked image at the bottom then two more times (without reinking). That is called generational stamping……very cool!

Next is the shiny golden anchor. I stamped the “Anchor” from the Sailing Home Stamp Set with VersaMark onto Whisper White and then heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder. Even guys need a little shine in their lives. [giggle] Then I die cut the anchor using the Smooth Sailing Die Set. That’s right……no fussy cutting involved! Sweet!!!

SENTIMENT: Finally is the sentiment. I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut the two circles, the bottom circle is Balmy Blue and the top is Whisper White. Using Crumb Cake ink I stamped the sentiment, also from the Sail Away Stamp Set. There are so many images in this fun nautical themed set to choose from.

I really had fun and enjoyed designing with this stamp set. I hope you enjoyed today’s Sailing Home Gold Anchor share and are inspired to get your hands inky! Have a stampingly wonderful day!

Well Said Happy Birthday Butterfly

Well Said Butterfly Happy Birthday

Woohoo……Spring has finally sprung! I had fun creating my Well Said Happy Birthday Butterfly bright and bold design. This card includes many cool techniques that can help spark your design mojo. [smile]

I have fallen in love with the new Granny Apple Green color. I paired it with one of the new 2018-2020 In Colors, Blueberry Bushel. This combination is bright, cheery and very gender neutral. [TIP: Leave off the butterfly and this would make a great masculine card.]

Both the Gingham bands are from the 2019 Sale-a-bration Designer Paper Botanical Butterfly. It recently retired but I just loved it so much I used the blank & white design brayered with more of that fun Granny Apple Green. Love it!

I also included two types of embossing:

The first is dry embossing……this is on the Blueberry Bushel rectangle that I first cut using the Rectangle Stitched Dies then embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. This was layered onto another rectangle in Basic Black that I tore the edges to give even more texture. [sweet!]

The second is the butterfly. I heat embossed the image with VersaMark and black embossing powder. Then I colored with sponge daubers using those wonderful Granny Apple Green and Blueberry Bushel inks.

Finally, I topped it all off with Happy Birthday. The “happy” is from the Well Written set of dies along with the Well Said stamp set, that I am ecstatic both are carrying over. Woohoo!

I appreciate you stopping by to check out my Well Said Happy Birthday Butterfly card card and hope that you have a great day. AND that you are inspired to get your hands inky!
