So Many Sparkly Stars

So Many Sparkly Stars

I enjoy taking a stamp set and creating something completely unexpected. As I was perusing the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog. I fell in love with the So Many Stars stamp set. The catalog inspirations shown are geared towards the Christmas Holiday Season. Today’s share “So Many Sparkly Stars” is my outside-the-box take on the So Many Stars stamp set

EMBELLISHMENT: With fall having arrived here in the Northwest my creative juices were leaning toward Halloween. I was trying out the Shimmer Black Emboss Powder. After embossing and die cutting the swirls & stars, the sparkly black look made me giddy. I then wanted something to pop against the black, Granny Apple Green jumped out at me.

I was looking to add more shine and decided to spritz the Granny Apple Green with a mixture of Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. [Perfect!!!] After cutting the same swirls & stars I started layering onto a band of Basic Black. I loved the look. At this point I had an embellishment that needed a home. Lol!

BASE: Layering the embellishment onto the Granny Apple Green layer made the stars pop. [Sweet!] Well……what goes great with black and green ……purple! When I pared this embellishment with Gorgeous Grape I did my happy chair dance. To add the finishing touch I gave the new Scripty Emboss Folder a try. OMGosh! This emboss folder is THE BOMB! It was the perfect subtle background. What do you think?

SENTIMENT: To finish the design it needed a sentiment. I had leftover spritzed Granny Apple Green and decided to use it. Looking at the sentiments included in the So Many Stars stamp set I felt “the stars are shining brightly” would be the perfect fit. I was strong and ended up cutting apart the full sentiment “O, holy night, the stars are shining brightly” and embossed it in plain black. Finally another cool item in the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog are “black” dimensionals. WHAT? Yes, there are now black dimensionals to use with dark designs so you hardly see them. I used them on the green stars and the sentiment. Woohoo!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

Here’s what I used: STAMP: So Many Stars; PAPER: Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black; INK: VersaMark; ACCESSORIES: Dies–Stitched Stars |Emboss Folder–Scripty 3D| Punch–1-1/2″ Circle | Emboss Powder–Shimmer Black & Black

When I had finished my design I showed it to a friend and she said “hey, it has a “wicked” feel.” I didn’t even see that. Very cool! I’d love to hear if you thought I hit the “wicked” feel OR if you love the “Scripty” emboss folder like I do.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’re inspired to get your fingers inky. Have a great day!

Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors

Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors

Happy Birthday ! This is my gift to all those who have birthdays in July (including myself). The Sailing Home Stamp Set and Smooth Sailing Die Set offer many options to celebrate those nautical lovers and those that like all things beach. It is a great card to share on this Independence Day Holiday, Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors.

BASE: It starts with Basic Gray layered with Smoky Slate dry embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. This give just enough texture to make the anchors and sentiment pop.

ANCHORS: I tried just the Smooth Sailing die cut anchor shape, they were too flat looking for me. So of course the first thing I tried was heat embossing the anchor image with clear embossing powder and then die cutting. WAYYYY better! To add height as well as dimension I popped them with mini dimensionals.

SENTIMENT: I wanted to keep the sentiment minimal so the anchors remained the focal point. So I opted for a narrow strip of Whisper White stamped with “Happy Birthday” from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set alternating with Night of Navy and Real Red inks.

Make sure to come back and chech out another design I will be posting using the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing Dies. It also uses the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper that I have fallen in love with.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you find this bold independence day Sailing Home Red White Blue Anchors design inspiring to get your fingers inky. Have a great holiday and weekend!

Floral Well Said Happy Birthday

Floral Well Said Happy Birthday

This Floral Well Said Happy Birthday card is one of the fun cards we made in one of my recent classes. The Well Said Stamp Set and Well Written Die Set includes 51 stamps 24 dies to choose from. That’s enough to cover most any occasion.

I was happy to make use of the Large Letters Dies and Petal Promenade Designer Paper. By trimming the serifs from the letters it gave a new more modern look to them. This lovely floral paper design is my favorite……lots of pink!

Then to add just a bit of texture, which I felt it needed, I embossed the Whisper White band with the Subtle embossing folder. Sweet!

I am sad the Large Letters Die Set along with the Petal Promenade Designer Paper are retiring the end of May. These are popular and will go fast so don’t wait.

Best Bunny Hopping By

Best Bunny Hopping By

I hope you are having a great day with family and friends. Today’s share is one of the cards we created in my March Card Class. This colorful and bright Best Bunny Hopping By card would also make an adorable Easter card.

The bright spring colors made me feel happy when I was working on this design. I loved the The Dot to Dot varied dots embossed colored strips, they give nice texture. The torn edges on either side of the embossed strips add another layer of texture and interest. Coloring and fussy cutting of the bunnies were an easy option.

Springtime in our neighborhood means many baby bunnies hopping around. This is another reason this card made me smile.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a great day and are inspired to get your hands inked up with this Best Bunny Hopping By design.

Vertical Greetings Happy Birthday

Vertical Greeting Happy Birthday

Hooray for scraps! I always seems to have scraps laying around on my table. This design was inspired by Gingham Gala strips from a previous project. I was playing with the colorful Organdy Sale-a-bration Ribbon Pack and coordinating Gingham Gala Designer Paper strips (scraps) and created this bright and springy Vertical Greetings Happy Birthday design.

I had just gotten the Rectangle Stitched dies and thought they would be a perfect fit with the ribbon. After playing with a strip of ribbon in each of the five colors I thought wouldn’t it be cool to have them floating in a cut out. Then I pondered how I could make the ribbon float without showing on the inside. Haha!!! Add a front layer and cut through both layers. That was the ticket!!! [TIP: It really needed something so I embossed the front with the Subtle Embossing Folder……oh yeah!]

Next the Gingham Gala strips came into play. I was trying different stamps for the cut out and had my second “ha-ha” moment. The rectangle cutout with the strips adhered to match the ribbon on the card front. Then adhere the rectangle to fit within the cut-out on the card back. I did my super happy chair dance. Woohoo!

Finally I contemplated what sentiment I wanted. I couldn’t find anything that made me happy. No pun intended……Lol! After going through all my stamp sets I came across the Vertical Greetings set and new it would be perfect. I went a step further and made the sentiment float within the cutout. There was a narrow strip of window sheet on my desk and I placed it between the layers like the ribbon strips. Then I adhered the sentiment with glue dots to the window strip. Voila’!!!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s bright and springy design and are inspired to get your stamping mojo on! Have a great day!
