So Many Sparkly Stars

So Many Sparkly Stars

I enjoy taking a stamp set and creating something completely unexpected. As I was perusing the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog. I fell in love with the So Many Stars stamp set. The catalog inspirations shown are geared towards the Christmas Holiday Season. Today’s share “So Many Sparkly Stars” is my outside-the-box take on the So Many Stars stamp set

EMBELLISHMENT: With fall having arrived here in the Northwest my creative juices were leaning toward Halloween. I was trying out the Shimmer Black Emboss Powder. After embossing and die cutting the swirls & stars, the sparkly black look made me giddy. I then wanted something to pop against the black, Granny Apple Green jumped out at me.

I was looking to add more shine and decided to spritz the Granny Apple Green with a mixture of Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. [Perfect!!!] After cutting the same swirls & stars I started layering onto a band of Basic Black. I loved the look. At this point I had an embellishment that needed a home. Lol!

BASE: Layering the embellishment onto the Granny Apple Green layer made the stars pop. [Sweet!] Well……what goes great with black and green ……purple! When I pared this embellishment with Gorgeous Grape I did my happy chair dance. To add the finishing touch I gave the new Scripty Emboss Folder a try. OMGosh! This emboss folder is THE BOMB! It was the perfect subtle background. What do you think?

SENTIMENT: To finish the design it needed a sentiment. I had leftover spritzed Granny Apple Green and decided to use it. Looking at the sentiments included in the So Many Stars stamp set I felt “the stars are shining brightly” would be the perfect fit. I was strong and ended up cutting apart the full sentiment “O, holy night, the stars are shining brightly” and embossed it in plain black. Finally another cool item in the new 2019 Holiday Inspiration Catalog are “black” dimensionals. WHAT? Yes, there are now black dimensionals to use with dark designs so you hardly see them. I used them on the green stars and the sentiment. Woohoo!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLIES:

Here’s what I used: STAMP: So Many Stars; PAPER: Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black; INK: VersaMark; ACCESSORIES: Dies–Stitched Stars |Emboss Folder–Scripty 3D| Punch–1-1/2″ Circle | Emboss Powder–Shimmer Black & Black

When I had finished my design I showed it to a friend and she said “hey, it has a “wicked” feel.” I didn’t even see that. Very cool! I’d love to hear if you thought I hit the “wicked” feel OR if you love the “Scripty” emboss folder like I do.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’re inspired to get your fingers inky. Have a great day!

Black & White Pearl Peacock

Black & White Pearl Peacock

I had so many ideas floating around in my head when I saw the Noble Peacock Suite. This Black & White Pearl Peacock was a fun use of heat embossing and loads of pearls.

You know I love the Long and Narrow card base. (3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) This lovely peacock from the Royal Peacock stamp set was a perfect fit for this size. The heating embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder gave this design the first layer of sparkle.

After I embossed the peacock it was still missing something. It’s just a feeling that I had. [smile] My “A-ha” was Basic Jewels Pearls and boy did they finish the perfectly. Okay, here we go with the second layer of sparkle.

After pondering what sentiment to use, I went with “so very proud of you”. I heat embossed it with white and cut the circle using the Layering Circles Dies. To add some height I popped it with Dimensionals. Guess what??? This is the third layer of sparkle. [Woohoo!]

Thank you stopping by today. I hope today’s clean and simple Black & White Pearl Peacock design inspires you to get your hands inky. If you need a demonstrator I’d be happy to help.

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Peacock Feathers You Are Incredible

Peacock Feathers You Are Incredible

What was at the top of your “must have” list when the 2019-20 Annual Catalog went live? The Noble Peacock Suite was at the top of mine. The printed and solid foils scream my name. Lol! I really love the Detailed Peacock Dies and couldn’t wait to start creating. I love the clean and simple layout of my Peacock Feathers You Are Incredible design, it made me do my “happy chair dance”.

The base is Shimmery White cardstock. Yes, my first layer of sparkle. (smile) My next layer of sparkle are the bright foil colors that bring the feathers to life. These amazing colors are Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel. The final layer of sparkle is the addition of the color coordinated embossed sentiment. It is the topping on the cake (or feathers in this case)! [giggle]

Today’s share is my first of three designs I created with the Noble Peacock Suite. Make sure to come back and check out more design posts.

Wish For It All Silver Candles

Wish for it All Silver Candles

Last April I attended the Stampin’ Up! onstage event in Vancouver BC and received during my swapping a great fun fold swap. When I reviewed my swaps that night I came across a cool fun fold swap and thought “I have got to make a card using this fold!”. This fun ditty I’m calling my Wish for It All Silver Candles.

Today’s post is the fourth or fifth design (I love it that much!) I have created using this fun fold. I created this for one of my July stamp classes. The color combination is outside my normal palette but the three shades of purple (Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape) just came together. (giggle – who would have thought)

CARD BASE: The basic base size is 4.25″ x 8.5″ (11″), with 2.5″ cut away from the length. The base is scored at 4.5″, 5.5″, 7″ and 8″. The 2.5″ x 4.25″ rectangle is scored at .5″ and 1.5″ along the 4.25″ edge. Yes, go and cut a piece of cardstock, score it and use your tear and tape or multi-purpose liquid glue to create the rectangle. I KNOW! Pretty cool, uh?

CANDLES: So what goes good with purple???……why silver of course. I remembered that I recently purchased the Doily Wishes dies from the Wish for it All Bundle and had my a-ha moment that it included this candle shape. BAM!……Silver Foil meets candle.

SENTIMENT: The sentiment is from the Wish for it All stamp set that is also part of the bundle. Woohoo! AND the die that I used to cut the sentiment is another of the many cool shapes in the Doily Wishes dies. I did trim the froufrou from the label shape. The candles were enough visually so I wanted to keep the sentiment clean and simple. [Yes, I used froufrou in a sentence. Lol!]

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Friday and have enjoyed today’s Wish for it All Silver Candles ditty. Let’s go and get our fingers inky and have some fun!
