Sweet Home Stamp Set ~ Halloween Gingerbread House

Sweet Home - Halloween Gingerbread 736pxl

Yay!  It’s finally here.  Well, let me tell you what “it” is……….The 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog!

My share today is the first design (of three) from the second swap I am participating in with our local demonstrator group.  The stamp set I chose was Sweet Home.  It also includes the Home Sweet Home Thinlits Die Set   I just love all the stamps and die shapes, creativity to your hearts content.  I hope they like it.  Eeeek!

BASE:  I started with Basic Gray for the base.  Then to create the “grass” I layered torn edged Old Olive strips that were heavily sponged with Old Olive ink.  [TIP:  I took a 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ strip and tore about 1/3 third away to create the “grass” strips.]

GINGERBREAD HOUSE:  I had so much fun with this.  I was inspired by a Gingerbread Cookie I came across on Pinterest.  [Gotta LOVE Pinterest!]  The house starts with Soft Suede, which I stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp with Soft Suede ink to add interest.  [TIP:  I stamped off once to keep the woodgrain detail subtle.]  HOUSE SHAPE:  1) Die cut the entire “Half House” shape.  2)  Cut the bottom straight continuing the leftside score line across the right side.  3) Cut the bottom right roof line by following the top right flap edge down.  3)  Leave the flaps on both sides to get a wider house.

The 1/8″ Black & White diagonal strips are from the Neutrals-Designer Series Paper Stack.  The 3/8″ Roof Eaves are Basic Black that I heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder.  Overlap at the top to give a more substantial look.  Stamp the “Roof Candy Dots” in Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie ink and apply with Small Glue Dots.  [TIP:  There is a “3 Dot” stamp and die that makes making masses of these quick and easy.  I was able to make 120 of these in less then 15 minutes.]  The “Door” and “Window Boxes” (Elegant Eggplant” are part of the die set as well as the “Window Frames” from the sparkly Pumpkin Pie Glimmer (new in the Holiday Catalog).  All the windows were backed with Basic Black that I freehand cut.  I was amazed that the only two things I popped on this design was the entire house and the moon.  Any more just looked like too much.  Lol!

SENTIMENT:  It started with punched 1-1/2″ Daffodil Delight circle sponged generously with Crushed Curry ink.  Then I stamped “Trick or Treat” in Tuxedo Black.  The sentiment is part of this stamp set.  Woohoo!  Then I popped it with a Dimensional.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s fun Halloween Gingerbread House and will stop back for more designs featuring the fun and sweet “Sweet Home” bundle from the new 2016 Holiday Catalog.  Have a great Friday and holiday weekend!
