Sweet Home Bundle – Punch Art Dragon

Good Friday morning!  My share today is the third swap I designed for our local demo 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog swap  Featuring the Sweet Home Bundle.  He is my “happy dragon.”  This fun punch art dragon mostly uses shapes from the Home Sweet Home Thinlits Die Set (page 40).  Isn’t he adorable?  I LOVE him, he’s just too cute!  There are so many shapes and bits that your imagination can run in many different directions.

I’m going to be honest and say this wasn’t quite what I had in mind.  I was thinking Halloween and more of a Frankenstein “monster”.  When I started building him I went with Layering Ovals Framelits to get the head and mouth shape, overlapping two ovals.  [These were sponged with Cucumber Crush ink.]  His head shape was popped with Dimensionsls.  The hair is one of the “roof tile” dies.  YES!  I just bent the edge at each tile break to get the curve.  The “eyes” are one of the door shape and “teeth” are meant to be banners.  It’s hard to see, but these are done in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  [Had to get that sparkle in.  Lol!]  The “eye centers” are the larger of two candy shapes.  [TIP:  To add just a wee bit of shine clear emboss the Basic Black cardstock before die cutting.]  His nose is a 1/2″ circle that is sponged as well as popped with a Dimensional.  His neck is a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ square that I free-hand cut slight curves into the sides and sponged.  Even though he is more of a Happy Dragon (LOVE IT!) I did keep the “screws” in his neck to give that “Frankenstein” nod.  [wink, wink]  This a small “bone” shape that is in the die set as well.  I KNOW!  There are 22, yes 22 die shapes and pieces included in this fun Thinlits set.

Just remember, you may have something in mind, but be open to evolving and changing to make what your project wants to be made into.  I had this happen many times when I was fabric shopping.  I would have something in mind and when I came across a bolt of fabric it would speak to me and say “I would be great made into this”.  No, I don’t have voices in my head.  Lol!  At least not very often.  LMBO!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Friday and wonderful weekend!  Until next time……Happy Stamping!
