Sparkly Seasons Snow Globe Ballerina

2 500pxl Sparkly Seasons Ballerina 1

Good Monday morning!  I had a very productive weekend.  Saturday morning I got my oil changed, car washed, did my banking and even grocery shopped.  I was on a roll and felt great when I was done.  Having done all that first I was able to spend the rest of the day my studio working on a fun project I will be offering at a retreat in late October.  Wahoo!!!  I got it done and even spent time with my hubby.  😎

Today I’m sharing the second (of 5) designs we created in my classes this month.  It features the Sparkly Seasons stamp set along with the coordinating Seasonal Frame Thinlits Die set.  When I first found it in the new Holiday Catalog I was “I’m so all over that!”  All the images are adorable, but I just love the ballerina.  I remember being in grade school and taking ballet, but alas it was short lived.  Lol!  A big shout out to Sharon Langford for her cute Snowman Globe fun fold inspiration that I found on Pinterest!  Now, let’s get down to the nitty gritty.

BASE CARD:  The base is Pink Pirouette that I divided into almost thirds (3-1/2″ + 3-5/8″ + 3-1/2″).  I wanted the flaps to lay flat so I made the center 1/8″ wider to give the flaps extra room.  I first scored each side then cut down 4″ and across at 1-1/2″.  I also rounded the corners to give a softer feel to go with all the roundness of the globe and its base.

FOCAL POINT:  Why it’s the ballerina within the snowglobe.  The “globe” if made with the circle die from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits Dies and a 1/4″ (or so) larger circle from the Circles Collection Framelits Dies in Silver Foil.  I also cut a Window Sheet circle from the larger circle die.  I used 1/8″ double stick tear tape around the ring and then placed onto the window sheet circle.  I left about an 1″ or so of the tape covered at the bottom, creating an opening to slip over either side of the front flap (the silver ring on the front and the window sheet on the back.  Then I carefully peeled the tape covering off and pressed to secure.  Next I Silver heat emboss one base and another in Smoky Slate, then hand cut.  [TIP: I didn’t want it to get too thick so I stamped in regular ink for the inside flap base.  The front flap base is glued flat at the top with a row of Stampin’ Dimensionals cut in half at the bottom.  The ballerina is stamped onto Whisper White with Smoky Slate then colored with Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake.  The tutu is covered with Dazzling Details Glitter.  After cutting her out I applied her to an 1/8″ strip of Window Sheet, using 1/8″ double stick.  She is applied the front of the inside flap then the remain base is adhered to cover the Window Sheet strip.

SENTIMENT:  The sentiment at the top is from the Remembering Your Birthday Stamp Set stamped onto a Whisper White band with Smoky Slate ink then layered onto a Silver Foil band.  The interior “Globe” is Whisper White stamped with the “Sparkly Snow” in Smoky Slate.  The circle is die cut from the larger circle used for the Window Sheet globe.  I placed the globe onto the back and then laid the front flap over, adjusting the globe so it matched.  Holding the interior globe, move the front flap I made a very light pencil mark around the bottom.  I then adhered the globe using the pencil mark at the bottom to line up.  I erased the pencil mark with the white eraser.  For the final touch I stamped Happy Birthday just below the bottom of the interior globe.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Monday!  I look forward to your comments.
