Happy New Year! I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing long holiday weekend. We got 3/4″ of an inch of snow yesterday and then it turned into freezing rain. Yup, ice over snow. I’m bummed that I won’t be able to test the Subaru in the snow. I’m not that brave or crazy depending on how you look at it. Lol!
Only one more day until the new 2016 Occasions Catalog goes live. Woohoo!!! Here is one of the designs I worked on this weekend. It features the Balloon Celebration stamp set and It’s My Party Designer Series Paper from the 2016 Occasions Catalog. I like the striking look of the black & white with a touch of red color combination as well as the clean layout.
BASE CARD: I started with Silver Foil layered with Basic Black and then White with Black Dots from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper pack. The Basic Black layer is the card fold (at top). The bottom corners are rounded to soften the look. I went way outside my Type A comfort zone and aligned the layers to the top and right. Lol!
FOCAL POINT: The new Balloon Bouquet punch with its small and large size “Balloons” is perfect to give dimension. First, the “strings” from the Balloon Celebration stamp set were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Momento ink, fussy cut, then placed onto the card face with several glue dots. Next the balloons were punched from Silver Foil, Silver Glimmer and Black Glimmer cardstock, then layered onto the card face some flat and some with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add height. Finally, I topped the string bundle with a small Real Red bow. I really love the pop of color the red bow adds.
SENTIMENT: I stamped the “Happy Birthday” also from the Balloon Celebration stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I fussy cut and popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The fussy cutting of the balloon strings and sentiment gives a relief around the stamped images to help them stand out.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great Monday.
