Woohoo! It’s Friday. What do you have going on this weekend? Tree trimming, putting up lights, attending or hosting a holiday party? My office party is tonight, so we will be enjoying an evening out. Then I’m looking forward to spending time in my studio this weekend cleaning up, organizing and playing with more new sneak peak items I received this week. Yay!
Today’s post is the Christmas Card that I finished earlier this week for a customer. I made 65 of these gems in less then 10 days, from engagement call to customer pickup. Yes, it was stressful, but I enjoyed every minute. I came across a design on Pinterest by Lyssa Zwolanek that I found very inspiring. It lent itself to stepping it up and I enjoyed being able to use anything sparkly, shiny, shimmery, etc. that I wanted. There were just a few requests, “make a statement” (oh boy, did I), holiday colors (check) and something that would show case “a reason for the season” (check, check).
I put the same snowflake on the inside as a pop-up to put it over the top even more and “make a statement”. Lol! I opted to leave the rhinestones off as the card was getting pretty thick. I did the printing and then added the pop-up element with the same inside piece of cardstock. High five!!!
CARD BASE: The base is Very Vanilla layered with Red Foil (I am ecstatic is carrying over from the 2015 Holiday Catalog) and Shimmery White. To step this up even more [yes, even more] you could do the base and inside in Shimmery White as well. It will make it really thick but oh my, it will be very impressive. Lol!
FOCAL POINT: The cross shape made with the varied sizes of Dazzling Details Glimmer strips makes a subtle “reason for the season” statement. The Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper helps to put it over the top. The Red Foil face layer, Snowflake and heat embossed Cherry Cobbler create a shiny amazing pulled together design. [TIP: You could substitute whatever snowflake shape you might have on hand.]
SENTIMENT: The sentiment is from More Merry Messages (vintage) stamp set. It was stamped onto shimmery white with VersaMark ink, then embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder. Then it was punched with an Extra Large Oval punch and popped with dimensionals. What can I say, it need it. [grin]
I hope you enjoy today’s card and that you find inspiration as well. Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a good Friday and great weekend!
