Project Life Paperclip Thinlits Die – 2015 Convention Swap

Color Me Irresistible--Be You tiful

Hey, happy Wednesday!  We are entering into another hot spell around here.  It’s supposed to hit 95 degrees today and the high to mid 90’s the rest of this week and into the weekend.  Whew, now that’s what I call hot.  I’m looking forward to staying inside where it will be cool and start working on my designs for August’s classes.  Also, I’ve been asked to design a wedding card for one of my co-workers getting married at the end of August.  I’m super excited to get started on this as I LOVE designing bridal shower and wedding cards.  My favs!!!  ALSO, I’m over the moon to have been asked to share a tutorial for my recent Acoustic Guitar card.  It will be at the end of September, but I’ve got to get cracking because I will also have to shoot a video to accompany the tutorial.  Eek!  I’m excited and nervous as the same time.  Wish me luck!

Well, today’s design is the fourth I created for our 2015 Stampin’ Up! Convention.  I was a bit nervous with this one.  When I first saw the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits Die set I instantly saw faces on the paperclip framelits.  There were holes to use for popping the pieces out that looked like faces to me.  Lol!  So, I knew that was what I wanted to make for one of my swaps.  I was thinking what to use for the faces and…..HELLO…..there are five shapes and five new In Colors, and that’s how this design was born.  Not only does it feature the new Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits Dies I also used the new Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP).  Yes, they are just the cutest guys and the SDSP has sheets in the new In Colors that have a variety of embossed designs AND there are white embossed sheets that you can color to your hearts content as well.  Lol!

CARD BASE:  It starts with a Watermelon Wonder base (3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″).  I then glued the Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron bands to either side.  I was racking my brain on how to make this quick and easy because I was making 50 of them.  So I made the Watermelon Wonder the base, one these strip to cut.  Woohoo!!!  Then I covered the bands with a piece of Vellum Cardstock.  The band were competing with the Paper Clip faces so I used the Vellum to tone them down.  Love it!  [TIP:  Don’t use liquid glue to adhere Vellum.  The moisture will make the Vellum warp.]

FOCAL POINT:  Well, of course, it’s the Paper Clip faces.  Lol!!!  They are shapes from the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits Dies set.  My hubby was a sweetheart and cut these out for me.  It took him 4 hours, he was a trooper and said “Happy Birthday” when he was finished.  Lol!  I told him thank you and that was the best present.  If not for his help these cuties would not have made it.  Whew!  He’s is certainly a keeper.  😎  Oh, I almost forgot, I glued a narrow band over the Vellum and popped the faces with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Lol!

SENTIMENT:  I wanted to keep it simple so the faces would be the focal point.  So I stamped this fun sentiment from the “Flower Patch” stamp set onto the corner of the Vellum in StaZon–Jet Black.

I hope you enjoy today’s design and will stop back on Friday, I’ll be posting some of the swaps I received at convention.  See you then, and have a great Wednesday!
