Good Friday morning. Today’s post is the first of my “outside the box” use of the Paisley Framelits Die set. I was playing with laying the pieces out and realized “ooh, these look like hearts”. The soft color combination of Pear Pizzazz and Flirty Flamingo pair well with the punch of clear embossed Calypso Coral. AND the embossing adds the touch shine to make this clean and simple design sing.
BASE: The base starts with Whisper White layered with Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz and more Whisper White. [TIP: This helps the subtle colors and shapes pop.] I used a variety of different sized layers to accentuate specific colors. The first is Flirty Flamingo then Pear Pizzazz. Even with Flirty Flamingo being the dominate color the Pear Pizzazz is strong enough that they “feel” balanced.
PAISLEY HEARTS: The three heart sizes are just a few of the many shapes in the Paisley Framelits Dies set. When I was laying out the hearts it felt like it needed a third color as well as shine. Lol! So I heat embossed the Calypso Coral before cutting. It added the perfect amount of shine. I felt like the layout needed another element. I tried rhinestones which totally didn’t hit the mark. I had my a-ah moment and tried 1/4″ and 1/8″ circles instead of the rhinestones. Woohoo……they were just right!
SENTIMENT: This design was one of those times when a simple/minimal sentiment hit the spot. For this bright, spring-y design I used the “hello” from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink.
