Mother’s Day Accordion Fold – April Card Class (1 of 5)

Mothers Day Accordian

This card was a major hit in April’s Card Class.  It’s a bright and fun accordion fold card that will make whoever opens it up SMILE.

I gave everyone a choice between Mother’s OR Birthday for their letters.  Technically it isn’t that bad, it’s just A LOT of pieces.  The base is made from two (2) 4″ x 12″ strips of Designer Series Paper (I used Gingham Garden).  I also gave them the choice of two additional prints from the same paper pack.  They were the floral with blue background and white background with large yellow flowers.  A few people even choice the two optional choices, not the sample paper!  The Daffodil Delight framing the Whisper White panels worked great for all three paper choices as well as the Melon Mambo letters.  Yay!  This is also a great way to use those printed papers that might be a bit too busy, showing only a little bit.  (wink, wink)  I’m going to make one for my mother-in-law using a different Designer Series Paper and color combination.  I CASE’d this sweet card from Joanne James’ website.  There weren’t much for instructions so I just broke it down and recreated myself.

The first strip was scored at 2″ intervals.  The second strip’s first score was at 1/2″ then four more at 2″ intervals.  You cut away 1-3/4″ from the end unscored end of the second strip. The large panel is 1-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the small panel is 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2.
