Good Wednesday Morning! Yay, we’re heading toward the weekend and I’m especially looking forward to Saturday. Saturday is my monthly stamp classes. I love seeing my stampers and hearing what’s been going on since that last time they attended. 😎
Today I wanted to share the fun and not-to-shabby masculine Valentine card I made for my hubby. You know I decided to share this card after Valentine’s Day because you can switch it up for a Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, anniversary OR just cuz you love someone. I just love all the different ways one card “layout” can be so versatile. Ok, on with the show…….
SHAKER: The card starts with a Vellum base, yes vellum. When I applied the Vellum strips with the “love” and “you” I was thinking I need to tie these in with the rest of the card. I tried a Whisper White as well as Real Red base and they just didn’t hit the mark for me, BUT my A-ha moment was realizing the Vellum would be subtle but it definitely pulled it all together!!! I did add inside card pieces to white on and to cover the adhesive that showed through the from gluing the card front to the vellum. [TIP: Keep in mind that the Vellum will show on the backside to keep your adhesive to a minimum or cover with a piece of cardstock.) The face is layers of Basic Black and Real Red glued to the Vellum. Then B&W Mini Hearts sheet from the Stacked With Love DSPS with a square die cut using the Squares Collection Framelits. I cut the window sheet square just a smidge smaller then the DSP edges so it wouldn’t show from the front. Glue the window sheet centered onto the DSP then place a double layer of narrow strips of 3M Double Stick Foam around the perimeter of the opening, make sure they butt together so the shaker bits don’t fall out, and along the left to pop it up the same as the opening. Then place your shaker pieces in the center and peel away the tape covering of the square only and place a square the same size as the window sheet square on top. This will create your closed shaker…..go ahead and shake it, I know you want to. Lol!
FINISHING: Adhere the “shaker” is to the card face, now you peel the left edge strip away. Oh, I almost forgot, the shaker bits are Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White which I clear embossed and punched with the Confetti Hearts Border Punch. Next adhere the Vellum strips (psst…..I did use vellum tape here) to the front. Next I “lightly” (and I do mean a light amount) glued the Love and You from the “Hello You” and “Expressions” Thinlits to the Vellum strips. [TIP: Save yourself some frustration by using a piece of wax paper between the die and the card stock. It pops out of the die much easier. There are small holes in the die designed for you to nudge the die cut out with a paper-piercing tool.] The part that makes this my Valentine’s Day Card is stamping my valentine from the Snuggles and Smooches photopolymer stamp set (only available online) in Real Red onto Whisper White and fussy cutting out then popping with Dimensionals. I HAD to sneak in more dimension somewhere. Lol!
I hope you enjoyed this card and would love to hear your comments. Thank you for stopping by today and have a great Wednesday!
