Hey Girl, Go Wild Happy Birthday

Hey Girl--Go Wild Happy Birthday

Hello stampin’ peeps.  Today’s design is the second (of 5) that we me made in August’s Class.  The ladies wanted a little cheese with their “whine” while they where putting her together.  I even pre-stamped and heat embossed almost everyone’s.  BUT when they where done almost every single person said it was their favorite that day.  Ha!  Sometimes I weigh the whining factor against the love of the card and this time love won out.  Lol!

This card features the Hey, Girl stamp set and Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack.  As soon as I flipped through the stack I knew this would be one of my fav’s.  This card uses A LOT of techniques that I don’t do very often.  But I put my big girl panties on and went to town.  There is coloring (not too bad), paper piecing (on the bow, top and skirt), LOTS of fussy cutting, and heat embossing (ok, I do, do a lot of embossing).  Whew!

CARD BASE:  It starts with Melon Mambo.  Then Strips of Zebra print from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack layered onto Basic Black placed at the top and bottom.  By placing the strips at the top and bottom it gives breathing room in the middle so the girl and sentiment feel like the focal point.  Even though the Designer Series Paper is busy it’s not overpowering the girl.

FOCAL POINT:  The adorable girl with her paper pieced Zebra print skirt is the fun and fabulous focal point of this card.  First stamp the girl from Hey, Girl onto Whisper White with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.  She is colored with Blushing Bride (lightly), Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo Marker.  Second, fussy cut her out (as loose or tight as you’d like).  Third, the girl is stamped again into another piece of Whisper White, then the Zebra print heart from the Groovy Love is stamped onto the skirt, then fussy cut and placed onto the main colored image with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Fourth, stamp the girl again onto Melon Mambo and heat emboss the image making sure the bow and top are well covered with clear embossing powder.  Then fussy cut the bow and top, adhering these onto the main colored image.  Fifth, the shopping bag is also stamped and fussy cut the same as the girl.  I opted for only one shopping bag when I was cutting.  It made applying the twine strap much easier.  The girl and shopping bag are both popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SENTIMENT:  I scoured the catalog looking for just the right sentiment.  I did go with Happy Birthday from the Talented Trio stamp set.  It had the right feel and playfulness.  I stamped it with Momento Tuxedo Black onto a very narrow strip of Whisper White, then cut them apart and layered onto another slightly wider strip of Basic Black, then cutting apart.  These were also popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

She is a cutie and I hope you are inspired to create a version of this fun card.  Thank you for stopping by my website and I hope you have a great day.  If you enjoy her I hope you leave a comment, even if it’s just one word.
