Hexagon Hive Soccer Ball – July Card Class (1 of 5)

Honeycomb Soccerball

Happy Monday everyone!  Wow!  What a great weekend I had.  The weather was beautiful, a little hot but it cooled off at night making sleeping easier.  I got to stamp with a bunch of great ladies at my July Card Classes (Saturday morning and evening).  Thank you ladies I had a great time!  Sunday, I got together with my friend Sheryll and caught up and did a little shopping.  WooHoo!  Then Derek and I vegg-ed for the rest of the day.  A very good weekend indeed.  😎

Today’s post was inspired by all the World Cup frenzy over the past couple of months.  This is the first of five designs we created in July’s Card Class.  I really love that this design because it will work for either a boy or girl AND you could switch the sentiment to great job, congratulations, etc., not only Happy Birthday.  The card starts with a base in Basic Black.  The first layer to create the sky (with sponged clouds – using Craft Whisper White) is a square in Marina Mist.  The grass (Garden Green) is three layers that all align at the bottom and sides to give more depth and texture.  The edges were torn and then sponged with Garden Green ink.  The Whisper White soccerball with spritzed with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and left to dry.  Next I die cut Basic Black with the Thinlets Hexagon Hive die popping out all the “cut” pieces.  Then I lightly glued the Basic Black honeycomb onto the spritzed Whisper White.  Then I took the 1-15/16″ circle from the Circles Collection Framelit and cut with the Big Shot.  [TIP:  I moved the circle around until I found the position that I liked.  This was much easier using the Magnetic Platform, because when I found the position I liked it held it in place so I could place the top cutting mat and not move.]  I then popped the soccer ball with dimensionals.  Finally the “Happy Birthday” from Remembering Your Birthday was stamped with StaZon onto a strip of Crumb Cake with the center popped with a dimensional and the ends attached with glue dots to give a waving banner feel.  I hope you enjoyed today’s post and will leave me a comment.  Thank you for stopping by!
