Well, I finally broke into my package of Golden Honey Designer Paper and Happy Birthday to You Sale-a-bration items. When I start designing and finish my first card I usually have leftovers that didn’t make it onto my first card. Are you like me and have extra pieces on your table? This gets my designing juices flowing to create a second card to make use of those piece. THEN…If I’m inspired to create a second design say “what the heck” I might at well do a third. Lol! Today I’m sharing my “Happy Birthday to You Trio”.
This design was inspired by the black & white side of the Golden Honey Designer Paper. This paper is so cool, one side has gold foil bee inspired designs the other side is black & white designs. The versatility of this designer paper with gold foil designs on one side and black & white designs on the other is fabulous! I love black & gold which inspired me to use gold heat embossing on black cardstock as well as gold foil. After gold embossing the flowers onto gold foil, fussy cutting the flowers was therapeutic and gave unexpected dimension. The gold layers and embossing gave an elegant shine to the design. Love it!
This is the second design I created using the black & white stripe piece left over from my previous design. I went in a lighter direction with more white and no embossing. What!?!?…no embossing. [grin] I used the Layering Circles Dies to create the focal point for the flowers. The flowers were fussy and then layered (popped with Dimensionals) onto the layered circles to give more dimension. Do you think the Gold Foil and Champagne Rhinestones give the all important shine? [smile]
I must confess this design took a bit of work. Yes, I do get designers block. The narrow strip was the remaining bit that I wanted to incorporate into this design. Using my fav technique…Faux Suede, with the widest band I added subtle texture. Woohoo! Next, came the stripe band with gold foil and a black strip. Finally, I thought the “Happy Birthday” sentiment would look cool embossed in gold on Vellum and fussy cut. Well, I didn’t do my happy chair dance, but I happy with the result. If I made this again I would probably try embossing on white and using a die shape.
