Groovy Love – Heart Balloons (June Class 4 of 5)

Groovy Love Heart Balloons

Good Monday Morning!  I hope you had an enjoyable weekend.  Derek and I went to a car show on Saturday afternoon hosted by the Wooden Chicken Pub (such a funny name).  It makes me giggle inside whenever I say it.  I enjoy seeing all the cars from the 60’s and 70’s restored to their former glory (or even better).  Then Saturday night we went and listen to some live music at the Trails End for a couple hours.  It was nice to spend the day with my hubby and just relax.  Ahhhhhhh!

Today’s ditty is the forth card we make in June’s Class.  It features the Groovy Love stamp set turned into balloons.

CARD BASE:  Starts with a 2-1/2″ x 11″ length of Smoky Slate folded in half.  Next a piece of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Vellum is glued to the inside back then topped with a piece of Whisper White to cover the Vellum which shows adhesive.  Then glue a piece of 2-5/8″ x 5-1/2″ to the backside of the front.  (TIP:  I recommend cutting all the pieces (except the card base) a 1/16″ shorter then 5-1/2″ so it lines up with the card base.  The fold takes up a 1/16″ of an inch.)

FOCAL POINT:  I was shooting for the Heart shaped balloons.  Lol!  What do you think?  The Pink Pirouette and Basic Black balloons where Clear Heat Embossed strips punched with the Sweetheart Punch.  It was hard for me to get the gloss to show in the pic  The Zebra Stripe Hearts are from the “Groovy Love” stamp set.  I had envisioned embossing the hearts in black onto pink for a while and finally figured out how to incorporate them.  The strings are lengths of Embroidery Floss.  I wanted to keep the Balloons the focal point and that meant keeping the string as neutral as possible.  All of the balloons are popped with dimensionals except the top pink on the right.

SENTIMENT:  This too took  me a couple days to work out.  The Groovy is from the “Groovy Love” stamp set and the Day is from “Remembering Your Birthday” stamp set.  They are stamped onto Whisper White cardstock with StaZon Jet Black for a crisp black to match the balloons.  Finally they were trimmed down and layered onto narrow pieces of Basic Black.

I hope you have a great Monday and thank you very much for stopping by today!
