Well, good Monday morning! I had a grand time with my stampers on Saturday. We laughed, giggled and stamped like little kids. I even had a few ladies that hadn’t stamped with me for a while, it was amazing! This month’s class was all Christmas projects. This was a 3D project we made. It’s my version of a Gingerbread House featuring the Baker’s Box Thinlits Dies……..one cute aside is the roof and chimney. I wanted to make it open and reclose easily without a lot of fuss. Voila! The roof opens like a milk carton top. There are two mini-clothes pins covered to look like a chimney. They hold the roof closed. Sweet!
BOX: The two pieces used to create the main box shape are from the Baker’s Box Thinlits Die. They are cut from Soft Suede.
DOORS / WINDOWS: The door, roof and roof eave scallops are also cut from the Baker’s Box Thinlits Dies set. This die set comes with many versatile pieces, just let your imagination run wild. Lol! The door is Chocolate Chip. We did stamp the door itself with the Woodgrain Background stamp with Chocolate Chip Ink. The window frame squares (1-1/4″ x 1-1/4″) on either side are from Chocolate Chip cardstock as well. The windows on the door (1/4″) and windows (3/8″) are Whisper White. [TIP: You could use Shimmer White Card to give some subtle shimmer.]
DECORATIONS: The roof is cut from the same piece as the box, just slightly longer then the roof fold so you get the look of an eave. It is embossed with the Boho Chic Embossing Folder then glued to the roof. The striped corners are 1/4″ strips from the Designer Series Paper Stack Color Collection–Real Red. The door is adhered first, then glue the R&W strips to each corner, then the 3/8″ Whisper White band around the bottom. [TIP: There will be about 1/16″ on either side of the door not cover by the band]. The green circles will cover that up. Punch approximately 8 Real Red and 9 Garden Green 1/2″ Circles. Glue these around the base of the box over the Whisper White band. Finally, for the chimney it takes two pieces of 5/8″ x 1-1/8″ Real Red embossed with a brick pattern. I placed two mini-clothes pins into the roof, butted next to each other. Next place two 1/4″ strips of Tear & Tape onto each piece of chimney lengthwise, then press onto clothespins on each side.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoy today’s Gingerbread House project and will give it a try.
