Good Monday morning! I had an exciting weekend. I was getting ready for a group of fellow demonstrators (aka, lovely ladies) to come and gab, laugh and stamp at my house tonight. We have started a monthly Shoe Box Swap get together. A different person hosts each month and each person brings a project for everyone else to make and a snack. Stamping and munchies…..Yum!!! AND I got a “new to me” car yesterday (Sunday). It’s been a long time coming, my old card was a 2000 Red Chevy Blazer. We did keep her for everyday, messy stuff, but my new daily driver is a Black 2015 Subaru Forester. She’s very peppy, comfy and gets terrific gas mileage. Woohoo! There are so many new gadgets I have to get accustom to, it will take me a while to get settled. I feel guilty giving up Red but it was time. I’m going to miss her but at least I get to see her every day. Lol!
Today’s post is the the third of five designs we made in my monthly card class, a Fun Fold that I saw on Kirsteen Gill’s website a few months ago. One of my card class ladies showed me Kirsteen’s card on Pinterest and I said I’ve been toying with that fun fold card. So that was how this fun card started. I also incorporated three design elements….obviously, the Fun Fold, a masculine design and using the Holiday Designer Series Paper Season of Cheer in a non-Holiday design.
CARD BASE: The base is Pool Party. I just looked at Kirsteen’s many pics and came up with my dimensions. The finished card is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ and uses an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock for the folded base. I layered Mossy Meadow and Whisper White on the front and inside (aka, writing area). Oops, I almost forgot that I wanted nice clean edges for the front opening so I used the Squares Collection Framelits to get a nice opening without any overcuts.
FOCAL POINT: I decided to go with multiple sized stars, very gender neutral. I challenged myself to use the Holiday Designer Series Paper – Season of Cheer in a non-Holiday way. The blue and white stripe was pretty easy to select, but I decided to use the back side as well. It is Mossy Meadow leaves with blue berries. With the design being large and the Medium Star small enough it looks like a random design. Sweet! I also used various sizes of Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Glimmer Dazzling Diamonds stars, layering and placing for a Type “A” random-ness. Lol!!!
SENTIMENT: I decided to go with the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set because it went well with the watercolor look Designer Series Paper. I stamped onto Whisper White with Momento Tuxedo Black. I did fussy cut the “hooray” and popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give a dimension (and of course height).
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Monday!
