Happy Mid-Month Monday! I had a busy weekend…..Saturday I participated in a group sale for all our craft items we were able to let go of. Lol! It was difficult to let go of somethings, but you know what??? I’m making room for more things. Yay!!! Then Sunday I helped with our third annual Stamp Out Cancer Fund Raiser. We had a good turnout and the ladies loved all five designs. Many had never stamped before and even said “I’m not creative”, when they left they said they had a good time, loved the designs and were smiling from ear to ear. What a wonderful way to end the weekend! We love you Sandi P!!!
Today’s card could be thought of in the same way. This fun “etch-a-sketch” card was just too cute. When I saw it I knew I wanted to CASE it. Thank you Donna Wicks for this fun design! The base starts with Real Red with the center die cut using the smaller rectangle from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. To get that “Etch-a-Sketch feel I gold embossed the Happy Birthday from “Remembering Your Birthday” stamp set centered on the top of the frame. The “sketch” part is Vellum stamped with the Big Day stamp set in StaZon Jet Black layered over Sahara Sand (I know it looks just like an actual etch-a-sketch). [TIP: The stamp will want to slip when stamping on Vellum so take your time and let it dry for a bit afterwards.] Now on to getting that recessed look with the “screen”. The stamped Vellum is adhered to the Sahara Sand rectangle (put adhesive just around the edge-none in the middle). I cut these two pieces a 1/4″ of an smaller then the face so they wouldn’t show when you look from the side. This means you’ll put one full-dimensional in each corner (close to the edge) and dimensional-halves around the perimeter (close to the edge). This makes it so you don’t see them from the front when you tilt the card (and you know you’ll want to, it’s ok). WAIT….before you peel off the dimensional covers, lay the card down, place the “sketch” layers inside the card centered. Then fold the front onto it to makes sure it’s where you want it. Then peel the covers off and slowly press the cover down a bit at a time (Don’t do this all at once as the frame may land funny). Finally, I punched six 3/4″ circles (three for each knob) from cardboard I had laying around (leftover from DSP packages). I glued three together using my Multi-purpose Tombo Glue then glued one into each bottom corner. There ya go! Isn’t this just the cutest??? Thank you again Donna Wicks for your adorable version. I hope you enjoy this card and I’d love to hear from you. I hope you have a great St. Patrick’s Day Eve!
