I wanted to see what the Cottage Greetings Card kit cards looked like as they come directly from the box. They are very sweet and have lots of shine and sparkle. Today’s post is the first of the three designs that come in the card kit. What is great about the card kits is they come with everything you will need to create them except adhesive. They even include Stampin’ Dimensionals. Yeah, baby! When I saw this card base I got very excited. Hello…..sparkly silver strips. Woohoo! I was also excited to see several sizes of silver sequins. Sweet! Then I decided to see what variations I could create. Below is my first variation using the Diagonal Silver Striped, White and Delightful Dijon card base. It makes for a striking color combination.
I really like the graphic quality of this clean and simple variation. I cut four squares from the base card and turned them until they lined up and then layered onto a Silver Foil square. I didn’t want to draw attention away from the focal point so I went with a Velum card base. The sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set. I embossed the sentiment in Silver to coordination with the silver stripes. The original size is 5″ x 5″ and the variation is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. [TIP: I don’t always think “oh, I’m going the make this a square card”, most of the time it just evolves into one. But, I like to go with 4-1/4″ 4-1/4″ that way it will still fit into an A2 envelope. Square envelopes require more postage to mail.]
