Cookie Cutter Christmas ~ Gingerbread Friend

cookie-cutter-christmas-gingerbread-friend

Good Friday morning!  Say hello to my little Cookie Cutter Christmas gingerbread friend.  Lol!  This is my second “make it work” design using items laying on my work table.  The base and band didn’t make the cut on another project but I really liked the bold color combination so I set it aside AND the adorable gingerbread friend was too cute to recycle so she needed a home as well.

The clean simplicity of this design allows the gingerbread friend and sentiment to pop while having a bit of texture from the Cable Knit embossing.  I was wrestling with what to use for the vertical strip.  I had my a-ha moment and tried a window sheet strip.  LOVE IT!  She looks like she’s floating OR dancing, yeah that’s it, she’s dancing with her cute shiny candy bow.  [grin]

BASE:  Early Espresso is a great dramatic color to play against the Real Red and Whisper White bands.  The base and top fold is 4-1/4″ x 7″ scored at 1-1/2″.  To add a bit of subtle texture I used the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder on the red bands.  The bottom band is 4-1/4″ x 1-1/2″ leaving an opening that uses a Window Sheet band to “clearly” tie them together.  Lol!

GINGERBREAD FRIEND:  She is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set was hanging out on my work table from another design project.  I was excited that she fit perfectly between the bands and looks like she’s dancing about.  I had leftover clear embossed candies from Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper, so I punched the bow using the coordinating Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. Woohoo!  My first shiny element.  Adorbs!

SENTIMENT:  The Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set is fun and offers a variety of sentiments. I couldn’t help but go with the “friendship” to keep it fun and playful.  I punched two more clear embossed “candies”, placing them with the sentiment so they tie together with her adorable bow.  Sweet!  My second shiny element.  Well….the window sheet strip adds shine too, so that’s my third shiny element.  Lol!
