Cookie Cutter Christmas Bear

Cookie Cutter Christmas Bear

There are some stamp sets that let your imagination go wild and have fun.  The Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set is one of those sets from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog (view it here).  This is the second I designed for our “Stamp With Santa” event last Saturday.  We wanted to hi-light fun new items in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  My choices were the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set, Cookie Cutter Builder punch and Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper.  This paper collection is included in the BUY 3 GET 1 FREE Designer Series Paper Sale.  Full details and selections here.  ENDS OCT. 31.

I think he’s adorable in Real Red offset against the Crumb Cake base and Garden Green.  I also think this color combination still feels traditional even with the addition of Crumb Cake.  What do you think?  AND the “have yourself a berry merry christmas” is just too cute.

BASE:  The base is Crumb Cake topped with strips that feel like a ribbon wrapped present.  The bands are layers of Garden Green (5/8′), Real Red (7/32″) and Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (3/8″).  The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink.  [TIP:  I cut the words apart so I could arrange them to fit into the corner area.  Yes…it’s okay to cut your stamps apart.]

OVAL TAG:  This adorable guy is layered onto Garden Green (#8), Real Red (#6) and Whisper White (#6) “tag” ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits die set.  First stamp the “ears” onto the Whisper White oval in Soft Suede ink.  Then to achieve the narrow Real Red reveal cut two ovals (the same size as the Whisper White), then cut one in half horizontally and one vertically.  Adhere the vertically cut pieces to the back of the Whisper White oval then the horizontally cut pieces.  Don’t forget to pop with Dimensionals.  Hey, it needs “more height”.

CHRISTMAS BEAR:  He is stamped onto a Whisper White scrap with Real Red ink.  [TIP:  I recommend letting the ink dry for several seconds so it doesn’t smear.]  Punch him out with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch.  Next you’ll stamp the “face” in Soft Suede ink.  I really like photopolymer stamps for just this kind of stamping.  It makes lining up images easy.  He is popped with Dimensionals as well for even more height.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s adorable design.  Thank you for stopping by today.  Have a great Friday!
