I have been wanting to make one of these fun fold cards (sorry, I’m not sure what it’s called). When I came across Alison Solven’s version and video, I gave it a whirl for my mom’s Mother’s Day card. When deciding what paper to use I perused my “stash” (giggle ensues) and came upon this pretty print from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper Pack. My mom loves to garden so it was a win-win. [smile] I am going to miss this designer series paper, it has an abundance of pretty prints.
BASE: After deciding on the Designer Series Paper that determined my color combination. I went with Blushing Bride for the base. The front left side is layered with of Mossy Meadow and the large watercolor flowers print from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.
BAND: The band is Mossy Meadow layered with several different flowers and leaves fussy cut from the leftover after cutting the front face. I selected several different shapes and sizes of flowers and leaves to visually break things up. [TIP: The largest flower is in the middle band area which covers the smaller flower on the back right side.] Of course I was making this the “day of” and was a bit rushed. But, I would have liked to cut more flower shapes to layer onto the base flower to give “more height”. Lol! OH……I almost forget to mention it felt a bit “not sparkly” so I added just a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to the center of each flower. OMGosh it gave just the perfect amount of sparkle. Woohoo!
INTERIOR: The interior stamped sentiment is just large enough to fit behind the z-fold. It is Whisper White stamped with a couple different sentiments from the Cottage Greetings stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink. [Again, if I wouldn’t have been in a rush I would have added a layer of Mossy Meadow behind the Whisper White.]
SENTIMENT: The “Happy Mother’s Day” is also stamped onto Whisper White with Mossy Meadow ink and punched with the Word Window Punch. (I am really going to miss this punch to retirement, but I’m sure there will be something just as fun to replace it. hint, hint) To give the “end framing” punch another Word Window piece from Mossy Meadow. Cut in half vertically, then adhere to the Whisper White spreading apart on the left and right sides to get the slight framing.
My mom really loved the card. She displayed it on the table while we were having lunch. I hope you enjoyed today post. I will miss Mossy Meadow, give an “mm” shout out if you feel the same. Thank you for stopping by today. Have a great Monday!

(PS……I’ve had several requests for the dimensions and scoring for my Mother’s Day Card. Here ya go……I scored a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of cardstock at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″ for the “Z” fold base. AND a 1-1/4″ x 11″ band at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″. After folding the base and band they will have the same “Z” fold. Rotate the band 180 degrees and adhere to the base front and right half of interior.
Below is Alison Solven’s video that I watched to learn how to create her version of this fun fold and the measurements. Both cards are super cute! You can jump to just before the 3:00min mark for her card dimensions & scoring and 4:25min for the band dimensions & scoring. http://www.stampcrazywithalison.ca/…/fun-fold-card… )
