Birthday Blooms For You – Sneak Peak

500pxl Brithday Blooms - For You

Good Friday morning!  Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog goes live for customers in January 2016 – and this catalog is filled with amazing stamp sets, accessories and tools.  So that we can excite you with all of the amazing products in this upcoming catalog, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are able to order from the catalog early.  Woohoo!  I’m excited to share some of the new products today.

This is my take on Kirsteen Gills’ Fun Fold card.  It features the Birthday Blooms stamp set and one of the sweet Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper designs.  I’ll admit I was a bit nervous working with the Birthday Blooms stamp set as it calls “color me”.  So, I decided to go with the Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Mossy Meadow color combo and started coloring.  I LOVE how it came out.  What do you think?

CARD BASE:  The base is Pool Party, with layers of Mossy Meadow, Whisper White and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  [TIP:  I adjusted the size of the card to 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ so it will fit into an A2 envelope.]

FOCAL POINT:  This pretty flower image did make me nervous, but I pulled up my big girl pants and went to town coloring.  I did a wash of the light color then came back and laid the darker shade around the “shadow” lines.  The leaves are a light wash of Mossy Meadow, then came back with the full strength color in the smaller areas.  Then I fussy cut the flower and placed it onto the DSP square.  Shew!   The smaller flower fit perfectly onto the inside rectangle leaving plenty of room to write a sweet note.  (Oops, I almost forgot to mention that I colored the center of the flower with Hello Honey.)

SENTIMENT:  The sentiments in this stamp set are sweet.  I stamped and fussy cut this as well.  I felt it needed breathing room from the DSP print.  If you can believe it, this is the only thing popped with Stampin’s dimensionals.  I know, too funny!

I’m so glad you stopped by today.  I hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

    Hi Carol
Absolutely love this card and have just purchased the stamp set
Is there any particular videos on this fold as I quite can’t grasp how you did it
    Thanks Bev

Thank you Bev! I have injured my ankle and cannot get around very easily. I will try to get something up soon. Thank you again for your lovely comment.

Am I seeing a cut opening with a 3/8 edge in the front of the base? I’m new at this and I sometimes have a problem deciphering what I’m looking at, it’s old age.

      Hi Janice,
It is a bit difficult to tell at that angle. It is 1/2″. Thank you for your good question!
