Any Hour Spent With You is “Happy Hour”

Any Hour Spent With You is Happy Hour

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I spent Saturday and Sunday night listening to a great mix of live band music!  I enjoy getting out and supporting local live music.  Now let’s get to today’s design……

This is the second design we created in July’s Card Class.  It uses the Happy Hour stamp set.  I was perusing sketch challenges online and found one that’s only requirement was to use the newest In Colors (Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Tangelo Twist).  I have to be honest and say I’m not a huge fan of some of these colors but I sucked it up and was thinking how can I incorporate all five colors (probably in small amounts) into a design.  I had my a-ha moment when I remembered the Happy Hour stamp set had five different class shapes that I could cut and place to look like five different drinks!  I loved this design so much I even made it one of my swap card at Stampin’ Up!s annual convention this year.  It was the second most popular of my four swaps  designs.

I was surprised when I decided to go with Tangelo Twist for the base.  I felt it gave a fresh feel.  I have fallen in love with this fun sized card which is 3″ x 5-1/2″.  It’s a narrow card but still fits in an A2 size envelope.  The layers are Silver Foil topped with Whisper White.  I lined up the five glasses onto an acrylic block and then stamped (with VersaMark Ink) and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  The Silver Foil layer was popped up with Dimensionals.  Next I cut small strips of each In Color, spritzing one side with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  After they dried I flipped them over, butted them together and stamped the glass shapes with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I cut the interior drink shapes and glued them (with the shimmery side up) to the embossed shapes using Multipurpose Liquid Glue so they would stay put.  Finally I separated the “Any Hour Spent With You Is Happy Hour” into two pieces, aligned them into a single line, then took a narrow (1/4″) Whisper White strip and stamped (with VersaMark Ink) & embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  The strip is popped with four dimensional halves.  I hope you enjoy this design and give it a try.  Please share your enjoyment by leaving a comment.
