50th Birthday Guitar Card

50th B-day Guitar 1 450dpi

This weekend we attended a friend of Derek’s 50th Birthday gathering.  Fun was had by all.  I whipped this card together Saturday morning (yes, I had another crazy busy week and didn’t get to it until then).

The base is Basic Black.  The front is Wood Veneer sheets (SU vintage) that I cut to fit then cut in half and flipped one side 180 degrees to give a bookmatch-ish look.  These were applied to a layer of Basic Black to hold together.  The circles are a combination of Circle Framelits and large circle punches.  It’s hard to see but the interior black circle is a circle cut through the veneer layer, with the veneer layer popped with dimensionals to give a feel of an acoustic guitar opening.  The “inlay” ring is Gold Foil.  The bridge is the smallest Deco Labels Collection Framelit cut in slightly less then half from the same veneer and lightly sponged with Crumb Cake so it would stand out.  I pierced six holes into the “bridge” then poked the strings (vintage SU Gold Cording) through and taped on the backside.  Then I applied mini gold brads (vintage SU).  The bridge was first applied with dimensionals then I wrapped the other end of the strings to the backside of the veneer layer with scotch tape (THEN I applied the veneer face layer to the card base with dimensionals.  The saddle (the vanilla  angled strip) is Very Vanilla that I clear embossed and free-hand cut the ends.  I was going for an ivory (glossy) feel.  FINALLY…….it needed the finishing touch…..a pick.  I asked Derek if he had any picks I could use and of course he did.  He has a pick stash like we have a button stash.  Lol!

The inside I heat embossed Happy Birthday & “th” in black and the numbers are Gold Foil using the Bigz Typeset Alphabet Dies (SU vintage).  The 5,0 and th were all popped with little bits of dimensionals.  This certainly would not be a card I would mail, but it turned out even better then I envisioned.  Yay!

After writing the instructions and subliminally while I was creating, I guess for an oldie but a goodie, vintage can be the way to go.  AND it used up some of the “stash” I had.  Lol!  Thank you for stopping by today and if you enjoy this card I love to hear what you think AND feel free to share.  Have a great Wednesday!
