50th Birthday Card-in-a-Box

Birthday Bash Derek 50th B-day 450dpi

Okay my stampin’ peeps….here is Derek’s 50th birthday card.  Isn’t it just FABulous?  I really love how it turned out almost just as I had envisioned.  It’s hard to tell but the balloon is a glossy black…..I wanted a shiny Mylar look!  This is my riff on Debbie McNeill’s version she posted weeks ago for just a short period.  I’m guessing it was part of a “Class in a Flash” project.  I’m calling it a modified card in a box.  It folds up but only has a front flap.  I had an amazing amount of fun with it.  Those math skills from school came in very handy for this one.  Lol!  I almost didn’t add the Silver Glimmer layers behind the Black & White stripes but I just couldn’t help myself… just “makes it”.  Please feel free to leave any comments I’d love to read them.

The base “box” starts with Basic Black.  The back and front flap are layered with Silver Glimmer and Stacked With Love DSPS (this is just the most versatile paper I’ve designed with in…..for ever.  The balloon and banner shapes are from the “Balloon” Framelits from glossy black and Silver Foil.  Happy is from the “Hello You” Thinlits in Silver Glimmer which is hard to see but is floating in the middle of the “box” opening with Window Sheet strips.  The words are all from the Celebrate Today stamp set that I heat embossed in black on Whisper White and did  fussy cut.  [Are you seeing a pattern? Lol!]  The “50” is from the Bigz letter/number die set that retired last year.  I hope you enjoy today’s post and that you have a great Wednesday!

Again I love this card and would really like the instructions on how to make this particular box. Would you please help me? I’m fairly new to card making, joined SU in late Sept. I know how to make the A2 regular square box card, but that is all I could find on you tube. k8
