If you’re anything like me, you have bits and pieces from previous projects laying around waiting for inspiration to strike. There were strips on my work table left over from a previous class design. I went about repurposing my Wood Textures Designer Paper scraps into this Wood Textures Parquet design.
My inspiration came from the strips lying on my work table and I thought “ooh, these look like parquet flooring. After several “trial and error” attempts I cut the strips into squares and placed them on the diagonal. By rotating the squares 90 degress, making the grain go in opposite directions it gave the feel of parquet flooring. At least that’s what it looks like to me. [smile]
You know me, I like to add a bit of sparkle or shine to all my designs, whether it is bold or subtle. After trying several different foil types, copper was the ticket. Woohoo! To add height I placed a mini Dimensional in the center of each square and then glued the corners down. The spacing between the squares gives breathing room and adding the “nail head” mini circles finished the intersections.
Copper foil cardstock and embossing the sentiment with Early Espresso adds the simple adornment to go with the wood textures parquet.
I’ve started decorating the interiors of my card designs. It’s a good way to use the even smallest left over bits. Sweet!
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’ve been inspired to pull out those bits & pieces and get creative. Have a great Monday!
