Welcome Baby, Dreams & Dragons

Happy Hump Day!  Well, Saturday I attended a fun baby shower for a long time friend’s (Jody) daughter (Melissa).  I was excited to find out that she is having a girl.  I’m such a sparkly girl.  I started thinking about what card I wanted to make for her. Thinking, thinking, thinking……light bulb moment.  Lol!  I purchased a vintage stamp set several years ago, (Circa 1996) Dreams & Dragons.  I didn’t know what I would do with it, all I knew was I fell in love with it. Here it comes…….that is the set I used to make the baby card with. It’s a bit non-traditional, but I really love how it turned out. Melissa loved it as well.

CARD BASE: It’s the modified Card-in-a-Box style that I posted for my husband’s 50th birthday. Click here to check it out.  It starts with a Wisteria Wonder base.  The “wall” and flap are layered with Old Olive and Smoky Slate.  The Smoky Slate was embossed with the new “Brick Wall” embossing folder and sponged generously with Smoky Slate ink for a distressed look.

COLORED IMAGES:  Yes, I put on two pair of “Big Girl” panties and colored all those images!  Lol!  I embossed each of the images on Whisper White with black embossing powder and colored all the images with a Blender Pen and Ink Pads.  THEN……I fussy cut each and every one of those darn images.  I did the Castle first so everything else didn’t seem so bad.  Lol!  The “Horse” and “Fairy Godmother” are suspended with Window Sheet Strips so they appear to be floating.  All the other images are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Some have multiple layers of dimensionals.  Finally I colored and cut a few of the Castle Roofs and popped with dimensionals to give even more depth.  See below for the colors I used.

SENTIMENT:  The “Welcome Baby” is from And Many More stamp set and on the back the saying is from Something to Say stamp set.  They were both stamped onto Whisper White with Momento Tuxedo Black ink.  The “Welcome Baby” was punched out with the Word Window punch and popped with dimensionals.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s design and will leave me a comment.  Thank you for stopping by today and have a great day!
