Thoughtful Branches ~ Four Seasons

thoughtful-branches-4-seasons-736pxl

This limited time only bundle Thoughtful Branches was truly an inspiration all on its own.  I started with the Side-Step Apple Trees design, then having the ring of leaves left on my work table I just couldn’t bring myself to recycle it.  So, after several days I had my “A-ha” moment and saw it as a wreath.  Sweet!  After creating the “Summer” and “Christmas” design I said “well heck I might as well make something for Spring and Fall.  After several days of trial and error I rounded out this  fun Four Season set of designs.  I offered a tutorial which included all four designs to my customers when they purchased the bundle.

I enjoy having a great way to be creative and share what I love.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I had designing them.

I have a sparkly Monday!  Thank you for stopping by today.

Fun Hedgehog Using Thoughtful Branches Bundle

thoughtful-branches-hedgehog

My share to today is the second of four cards from my August Pinkstampagne monthly card class.  This cute hedgehog features the Limited Time Thoughtful Branches Bundle and Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack.

Here is my take on Judy Stickling’s inspiration I found on Pinterest.  I changed it up a bit by rotating the orientation and changed the sentiment.  Also, after looking at real life hedgehog pics I added the second larger Very Vanilla heart and used the Bow Builder Punch for his ears.  Thank you Judy for such a fun and cute idea.  Great “outside the box” thinking.  He is just too stinkin’ cute and is front and center with this clean and simple design.

CARD BASE:  The card base is Soft Sky layered with Sahara Sand and the mini dots design from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack.

The oval his is mounted on is the largest from the Layering Ovals Framelits in Soft Sky.  To add some (all important) shimmer I spritzed it with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Frost White Shimmer Paint (vintage). [TIP:  My mixture is 4 oz rubbing alcohol to 24 “drops” of the Shimmer Paint.  This was popped with Dimensionals to add my first layer of  dimension.  Lol!

HEDGEHOG:  His main body is one of the smaller ovals in Crumb Cake.  This is topped with the Tree Trunk with Branches Die in Early Espresso from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle.  The trunk was cut away then glued to the main body.  The ears are the tail piece from the Bow Builder punch in Crumb Cake cut in half.  The face is two smaller hearts from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits in Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake.  The feet are a 1/2″ Circle cut in half. All the Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla pieces were sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  His body, small heart face and feet were popped with Dimensionals to add another layer of dimension.  Sweet!  His eyes and nose are clear embossed Basic Black 1/4″ Circles attached with small glue dots.

SENTIMENT:  The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.  It is also stamped in Crumb Cake ink.  Then punched with Classic Label punch to size.  This is layered onto Soft Sky and Sahara Sand pieces punched from the same Classic Label punch.  AND guess what???  This is popped with Dimensionals as well.  [grin]

Hey, thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Monday!  Until next time……Happy Stamping!

There’s Always Time for Tea Color Blocking – A Nice Cuppa

450pxl A Nice Cuppa - Color Block Tea Cups

One more fond farewell to the A Nice Cuppa design from our recent Local BZB Hive Happening Event.  This stamp set is a love it or leave it.  Lol!  I must confess that I was on the “leave it” side.  THEN when I was asked to help design “wow” make-n-takes for our local event I went all out.  My design thoughts went to “outside the box” and I think this color blocking on the card base as well as the stamped image make for a striking effect.  Give a “honk” if you think so.  [grin]

This is Make-n-Take #1 of 3 and my second event display sample post featuring the A Nice Cuppa stamp set.

BASE:  The color palette I chose to work with for these Make-n-Take designs was Bermuda Bay, Melon, Mambo and Wisteria Wonder.  So I started with Wisteria Wonder for the base.  Then Basic Black blocks layered with Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo.  I just love me a small (16″) reveal, it just frames everything nicely!  I will honestly say the only thing that would have made this even better would be Textured Cardstock for the Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo……just sayin’.  Lol!

TRI-COLORED TEA CUP:  My upline shared a video showing this fun stamp masking technique by JoAnne James.  I won’t lie that I was a little scared and skeptical to try this technique.  But you know me, I pulled up my big girl panties and gave it a go.  Lol!  OMGosh!  It turned out pretty darn good on my first attempt.  I did have small gaps between the colors, but I thought I had touched the Wisteria Wonder and Bermuda Bay ink pads to the edged of the Melon Mambo ink.  My next attempt was a success.  Woohoo!  [IMPORTANT TIP:  Make sure to clean the stamp after EACH stamping so you don’t get the other two ink colors on your Melon Mambo ink pad.]

FINISHING TOUCH:  I stamped the tea cups directly onto the Whisper White rectangle, so I was not able to tape the tea bag tag to the back of the top cup.  So……I improvised and broke out my X-acto knife and made a small slice at the top right edge of the cup.  Just enough to press a wee bit of Black Baker’s Twine through and tape to the back.  I love making the Envelope Punch Board a multi-tasker! I used the corner rounding punch at the top of the punch board to easily round the corners of the rectangles.  Woohoo!!!  THEN I layered the Whisper White rectangle onto the Basic Black rectangle.  It did need height so I popped this will Stampin’ Dimensionals.  [cheeky grin]  Finally, I stamped “and you” onto Whisper White with Melon Mambo ink and hand cut, then layered that into Basic Black and hand cut it as well with that narrow 1/16″ reveal.  After playing with the twine to place into a pretty loop I glued small areas of the twine with my Fine Tip Glue Pen and popped the tag with a piece of Stampin’ Dimensional.

While this stamp set had not been on my radar, when I was asked to design with the A Nice Cuppa stamp set and Cups & Kettle Framelits for our recent BZB Hive Happening team gathering I purchased them and when to designing.  We were thrown for a loop when we found they were on the “Retiring List”.  [The “A Nice Cuppa” stamp set is available only thru May 31, 2016]  But, we were committed and I think the designs I created gave (I hope) a lot of inspiration for those who already have either or both items.  I have a few more I will posting soon.

I hope you enjoyed today’s color blocking design.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a great Friday and weekend!  Woohoo!!!

There’s Always Time for Tea and You

4 PS A Nice Cuppa

TGIF!  Yay, it’s Friday AND it’s going to be sunny and not too warm this weekend.!  Oh AND I get to spend Saturday with a bunch of amazing ladies stamping, laughing and eating yummy Strawberry Shortcake when we’ve finished stamping.  Woohoo!

Today’s post features my under used (this was it’s maiden voyage) A Nice Cuppa stamp set.  I found a fun card on Pinterest by Jen Arkfeld and used it as my inspiration.  To be honest I was thinking I would just case it, but Noooooo.  I just love the long and narrow card size and this stamp fit perfectly with just enough room for the tea bag string and a few baby hearts.  Then I went with the Dots Stencil instead of the Diamond Stencil from the Happy Patterns Decorative Masks pack.  Finally I went with a Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight color combination topped with just a few punch baby hearts.  Now let’s get to into the nitty-gritty.  Lol!

CARD BASE:  The bright “Long and Narrow” (my go-to size is 3-1/4″ x 11″) base starts with Bermuda Bay .  I’ve come to realize I’m not using this bold and bright color enough.  Lol!  Next are layers of Melon Mambo followed by Whisper White.  I went with the “Happy” Dots Stencil from the Happy Patterns Decorative Masks and sponged the dots with Daffodil Delight (not too heavy or lightly, but just right)  [grin].  Then very lightly wiped with the same sponge over the entire piece of Whisper White.  [TIP:  I made sure the all-over sponging was light and uneven to break up all the white.]

TEA CUP STACK:  It is stamped onto Whisper White with VersaMark ink then heat embossed in Black.  The lettering is colored with Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight markers. [TIP:  Carefully wipe excess ink away after each color so they won’t bleed into the next.  As you can see in the “a” in always.  (grin)]  Yes, I had them fussy cut this out.  BUT…..we left the tea cup handle interiors (that was too much cutting even for me.  Lol!), and added just a wee bit of sponging so they blended in.  Then add a length of Two-Tone Color Thick Baker’s Twine to the back of the cups before applying them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

FINISHING TOUCHES:  For the tea bag string add a tag by stamping the “and you” onto Whisper White with Melon Mambo ink and (yes) hand cut.  I attached this tag to the end of the Baker’s Twine with a small piece of scotch tape then popped with a quarter of a Stampin’ Dimensional.  [TIP:  I wound the Baker’s Twine into the loops that I liked and applied small amount of glue from my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to keep it in place.  I was nicely surprised how quickly it set.]  For ease in class I opted to use the Hearts Border punch and punched several in Melon Mambo and attached with a small dot of liquid glue.

I hope you enjoyed today’s bold and bright modern looking design.  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Have a great Friday and weekend too!
