Cake Soiree – Happy Birthday Present

Cake Soiree - Happy Birthday Present

Stampin’ Up! catalogs are so versatile!  What?!?!  Yes……not only are the catalogs filled with LOADS of fabulous items, they are also filled with many inspiring projects.  AND they can be used as a cushion while stamping to help ensure you’ll get those solid images.  Woohoo!

So that leads to today’s share, it is the first of four cards  we created at my April Stamping Class [Cake Soiree – Happy Birthday Present].  I know, I know……I’m a little behind in posting.  [grin]  This adorable design was inspired by the image on Page 11 (lower right corner) of the 2018 Occasions catalog.  After looking at it again I realized that I did change it up quite a bit.  My clean & simple aesthetic made for a lovely, clean and slightly simple (Lol!) design.

Card Base:  The “Long & Narrow” Powder Pink base was topped with a Basket Weave embossed Powder Pink layer.  I was jumping with joy when I found that this fabulous folder was carrying over from Sale-a-bration into the new 2018-19 Annual Catalog.  Woohoo!

Present Embellishment:  To add sparkle, I Silver Embossed the Present, colored it (just a little, smile) and then fussy cut.  I then layered it with a couple “leaves” from the Sweet Cake Framelits and a strip of Sweet Soiree Designer Paper.  The Present embellishment was placed on top of a double layer of Vellum circles and popped with Dimensionals to the base.

Greeting:  Finally, the greeting was also Silver embossed onto a narrow Whisper White strip and popped with Dimensionals.

Cake Soiree - Happy Birthday Present Interior

Interior:  The interior is decorated with a trio of flowers (also from the Cake Soiree Stamp Set) embossed in Silver and colored similar to the flower on the Present.  The Whisper White and Old Olive layers were then adhered to the Powder Pink Base.

Cake Soiree – Happy Birthday Cake

Cake Soiree - Happy Birthday Cake

Today’s share is another of my “make it work” with extras.  Yes, I do have many, many pieces laying on my work table waiting to be incorporate into a design.  [smile]  I had fun pulling together this Cake Soiree – Happy Birthday Cake design.

The Silver Foil was already embossed with the Ruffled Embossing Folder waiting on my table to be put to use.  I finally got the Silver Paste along with the Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks in the 2018 Occasions and wanted to play with it.  So I put my big girl pants on an gave it a try.

First I stamped the solid cake from the Cake Soiree Stamp Set in Pink Pirouette onto Whisper White.  Next I placed the Sweet Soiree Mask on top of the cake, lining up the mask.  Then using a palette knife I spread some of the Silver Paste and wiped away the excess.  You’re going to laugh……like a bandaid I quickly “ripped” off the mask.  The silver paste is pretty loose and I didn’t want to risk it smearing.  Woohoo……no smearing!  After it dried I was happy to find it was shiny almost like heat embossing.

The base starts with Pink Pirouette (I’m so bummed that it is on the retiring list – you can find out more here).  This was layered with Smoky Slate and Embossed Silver Foil.  Next is another layer of Smoky Slate topped with the Pink and Silver cake, popped with Dimensionals.  Ooh……I almost forgot that I added two banners using the “Silver & Stars” Myths & Magic Washi Tape on either side.  These banners added another fun layer of shine.

Finally……I topped the cake with a banner silver embossed with “Happy Birthday” also from the Cake Soiree stamp set.  This was popped with dimensionals as well.

Have a great Monday.  Let’s keep looking at our “extras” and see what can we can create.  Thank you for stopping by today and checking out my Cake Soiree – Happy Birthday Cake design!

13-in-one-derful (redone) Card 13

13-in-one-derful (redone) Card 13

Finally, here is the last in my series, 13-in-one-derful (redone) Card 13. To mix it up I decided to revise the card size so the three main pieces would fit on the card base.  I also made the Elegant Eggplant rectangle fit the open space.  [Yes, my Type-A flag flying high. Lol!)  Then to give a bit of texture I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

For the sentiments I made a point to use only the sentiments included in the stamp set.  I was very happy with all the variations I came up with.  If you went even further and cut it word individually the possibilities open up even more.

You can check out my previous 13-in-one-derful Card 13 here or you can download the cutting layout here.

I hope you have enjoyed this redone one sheet wonder series and may be inspired to create your own.

13-in-one-derful (redone) Cards 9-12

13-in-one-derful (redone) Cards 9-12

Here is my next set of 4 cards from my 13-in-one-derful (redone) Cards 9-12 group. I put these on an Elegant Eggplant base to mix up the designs even more. I found it very striking. My excitement continued that the previous color palette worked perfectly.  Adding the adorable bunny makes these uber cute and easy to cut with the Basket Builder Framelits.  [Giggle]

A couple years ago I created my original 13-in-one-derful bundle of designs using the “Best of” Flowers stamp set.  [You can see cards #9-12 here.]  I used the Hydrangea stamp to create my own Designer Series Paper.  This time I was playing with the “Basket Bunch” stamp set and created a page full of mini-eggs.

To add more texture I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on several of the Pear Pizzazz pieces.  Also adding basic black framing layers can make your designs feel “framed” and add that finishing touch.

If you haven’t tried Wink of Stella you HAVE TO!  After coloring the eggs I felt they needed a bit of shine.  So I brushed Clear Wink of Stella over the colored areas.  Amazing!  Oh….to add a touch of shine to the upper left card I clear embossed the 1/8″ narrow Basic Black strip.  It added just the perfect amount of shine and replaces the ribbon I used on the previous version.  Sweet!

It was very nerve racking for me to start cutting the pieces, but I braved it and just LOVE how these turned out.  You can download the cutting layout here.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great weekend and happy stamping!

13-in-one-derful (redone 5-8 cards)

13-in-one-derful (redone 5 cards)

Have you ever started playing with a stamp and come up with something completely different then you originally envisioned?  Well I sure did, again!  Here are the next set of 4 cards in my 13-in-one-derful “redone” group.  I was excited that my previous color palette worked perfectly. Using Pear Pizzazz for the bases is a great way to give different looks.  I had fun mixing and matching different images from the “Basket Bunch” stamp set along with the super cute “Basket, Eggs and Grass” from the Basket Builder Framelits.

A couple years ago I created my original 13-in-one-derful bundle of designs using the “Best of” Flowers stamp set.  [You can see cards #5-8 here.]  I used the Hydrangea stamp to create my own Designer Series Paper.  This time I was playing with the “Basket Bunch” stamp set and created a page full of mini-eggs.  I tried to eyeball it but my type-A got the best of me.  Lol!  So……I lined up my foam pad using the grid paper, then lined the acrylic block with the edge and stamped.  It made it very easy to line up the stamped images.  Yay!  You might be thinking “how did I mix up the eggs”?  Well……I started on the left, stamping all the way across, then each following row I offset two eggs.  Violia!
