Spring Easter Basket

Spring Easter Basket

Today I have one more Easter card to share with you, it is the first design from my March class.  This fun and whimsical Spring Easter Basket card is my second design incorporating eggs, a basket and grass.  You can check out my first post here.

I decided to stay with the Long and Narrow size card, but went horizontal instead.  First I sponged billowy clouds onto the Whisper White card base.  I purchased the Rainbow Builder Framelits set specifically for the many clouds shapes it offers.  Two are cloud edges and two more small cloud shapes along with the rainbow arc shapes……super versatile.  Love it!

With the long basket  I decided to go with five eggs.  [TIP:  Odd numbers will almost always look the best.]  The five eggs (from the Balloon Adventures stamp set – vintage) were heat embossed in white and then colored with an aqua painter in traditional pastel colors.  After letting the eggs dry I punched them with the small balloon from the Balloon Bouquet punch.  It’s always great when you can make a tool a multi-tasker.  [grin] Then I trimmed away the balloon tie nubbin to create the egg tops.

The Crumb Cake basket was created by embossing with the AMAZING Sale-a-Bration Basket Weave Embossing Folder.  Love it!  I lightly sponged the embossing with Crumb Cake to add even more dimension and topped it with a Soft Suede band.    Also, adding to the whimsy is the Old Olive grass that is from the Picnic Basket Builder Framelits Set.

The “Happy Easter” is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set stamped with Memento Black and punched with the Modern Label punch.  You will be surprised to know that this is the ONLY thing that I popped with Dimensionals.  Lol!  With all the texture from the basket and the eggs slightly curled I felt that it had enough “height”.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and checking out my Spring Easter Basket post!  I hope you have a great Friday and Easter holiday weekend.

Happy 70th Birthday – Triple-W Fold

Double-W Fold - Painted With Love

Today’s share is the 70th Birthday card I made for my mom last month.  I had just gotten my Occasions catalog preorder and fell in love with the Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and wanted to break it in.  As a demonstrator we get the opportunity to order and play with items from the Occasions Catalog that will be going live on January 3rd.  Yay! This design is what I call a Double-W Fold (Correction – Triple-W Fold) card.  It is an extended size card — 3-1/4″ tall x 22″ wide.

As it was her 70th birthday I wanted to give her 70 candles and remembered the set of candles die in the Window Box Thinlits Die Set.  I set out die cutting candles and was able to fit 35 candles onto each Melon Mambo band.  Woohoo!  Yes……I eyeballed the candles.  They are in groups of 5 so that made it not too difficult.  (wink, wink) To add more color and shine I filled in the empty spaces (folds) with 1″ Painted With Love SDSP strips.

Here is a close up of the inside letters.  They were cut from both Gold Foil and Glimmer.  The Glimmer adds just a touch of sparkle.  Who doesn’t need more sparkle to go with their shine.  (giggle)

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great day!

Christmas in the Making, Presents

Christmas in the Making, Presents

Here it is!  My third and final design from our local demonstrator Stampin’ Up! 2017 Holiday Catalog Swap.  I always enjoy participating in these and seeing what everyone creates with their set.  The stamp set I selected was Christmas in the Making. This is my third of three designs that I call Christmas in the Making, Presents. (Duh!  Lol!)

I had envisioned a design that could be used for Christmas as well as through out the year……like a birthday!  Yay!  I went with super clean and simple for this design (at least for me anyway, Lol).  The retro 50’s vibe is super cute.  Love it!  Well……I did have to go a bit overboard and fussy cut her.  (grin)

When I started on this design I had create a color theme with the previous two designs and very easily kept it going with this one.  You may have also noticed I included a small “gold-ish” pop in each design.  If you’d like you can check out my previous design here (design 1 and design 2).

One last tip I wanted to share is the “Faux Suede” ribbon that I added to the sentiment.  It needed an element that tied the sentiment and girl together.  I didn’t have any Smoky Slate ribbon so I improvised and used the Faux Suede technique on both the “ribbon” strip and “rug” the girl is sitting on.  It adds a nice neutral texture to boot.  Sweet!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed today’s clean and simple design featuring the Christmas in the Making stamp set.

Label Me Pretty, You’re The Best

Label Me Pretty Stamp Set

Today’s post is the second design from my July Card Class.  I posted the original version of this design several weeks ago for our local New Catalog Release Stamp Together.   It was one of three I created featuring the Label Me Pretty Bundle. [you can check it out here]

BASE:  The base started with Thick Whisper White layered with Lemon Lime Twist that was embossed with the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I felt it needed a bit more texture so dry embossing was my first choice.  [TIP:  You could also replace with a Designer Series Paper Print for a totally different look.]

FOCAL SQUARES:  To add a nice Faux Stitched Edge finishing texture to the Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink squares I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and Big Shot.  The cool thing about these is the set includes not only squares, but circles and ovals as well. (sweet!)  To keep the card light and bright I opted to frame the Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink squares with Whisper White.  It of course needed a bit of sparkle.  Lol!  So I used the new Pretty Label punch along with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper to create the scalloped tabs at the top and bottom.  [TIP:  You punch one shape and cut in half horizontally to make your glimmer paper go farther.]

SENTIMENT:  I really wanted to keep the design clean and simple so the sentiment would draw you in.  So I stamped the “You’re the Best” from the Label Me Pretty Stamp Set onto Whisper White with Memento Black ink and then punched with a 1-1/4″ Circle punch.  Finally, I added a lot of height by popping both squares and the circle with Dimensionals.  [More height is always a good thing!]

I very much appreciate you stopping by today and look forward to your comments!  Thank you and I hope you have a stamping-ly great Monday.

Falling Flowers Bundle, It’s Your Day

Falling Flowers Bundle, It's Your Day

Woohoo!  I’m actually posting a card class design.  I was on vacation last week and was able to get many of my “to do” list items completed.  This being one of them.  I went outside my usual comfort zone with this design and love how it turned out.  Also, I’ve been wanting to design with my Falling Flowers Bundle so I was able to kill two birds with one stone (as the saying goes).  Lol!

BASE:  I started the base with Soft Sky layered with a Soft Sky Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper Square.  I just love this new Specialty Designer Series Paper!!!

FLOWER BUNCH:  The leaf stem was created from a piece of Lemon Lime Twist clear embossed then die cut.  [TIP:  After die cutting an embossed shape heat the edges slightly with the heat tool to smooth over the edges.]  Next I die cut the Soft Sky flower, it was a little to big for my liking so I trimmed away the outer ring of petals.  Finally I stamped two flowers onto Whisper White with Soft Sky ink and die cut one and then fussy cut the center from the second flower.  Oh, I almost forgot, I popped the center flower with the Dimensional and placed a 1/4″ Dazzling Diamonds circle in the center.  Hey, the flower needed something.  [smile]

SENTIMENT:  For the sentiment I stamped “it’s your day” from the the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set onto a Whisper White strip with Crumb Cake ink.  I popped with with Dimensionals as well.  It needed “more height”.  Lol!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a stamping-ly wonderful Monday and until next time……keep on stampin’!
