Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Celebrate You Hexagons

Celebrate You Hexagons

I’m happy that summer has finally arrived here in Portland.  This card with it’s bright summery colors makes me happy and smile!  It also happens to be one the cards we created in my June Stamp Class.

A cool feature of this Celebrate You Hexagons card is no stamping.  Woohoo!  The Celebrate You Thinlits die makes this card come together quickly and easily.  Adding 3/8″ circles adds another layer of happiness to this light and bright card.

What pulls this fun, bright and summery card together is the variety of colors sponged onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock then die cutting the  “Celebrate” and “You”, and then punching a 3/8″ circle in each sponged color.

To make popping the “Celebrate” easier I cut it a second time from 2mm White Fun Foam.  Next glue them together and then to the card.  Sweet!  Finally to add the all important sparkle I brushed the circles with Wink of Stella and then small Rhinestones.

Ooh……I bet you thought I forgot to let you know what colors I used.  Gotcha……Lol!

Below is the inside.  It is clean and simple as well with the circles brushed with Wink of Stella.

Celebrate You Hexagons Inside

I hope you enjoyed today bright and summary Celebrate You Hexagons card and it inspires you to get your hands inky.  A big thank you to Jose Hoogeveen for her lovely design that I had fun semi-CASE’ing (copy and selectively editing).  I selected a different combination of colors, the background is embossed with the Hexagons DTI embossing folder and the circles are brushed with Wink of Stella & topped with rhinestones.

Shimmery Noel Holly Berries

Shimmery Noel Holly Berries

I love the simplicity of this Shimmery Noel Holly Berries design.  This is the first design from my November Holiday Card Class.  While this design would look great in Vanilla, it has an added lux feel by using Shimmery White Cardstock.  Love it!

That’s right, the entire card is made with Shimmery White Cardstock.  The base, the face layer, the “Noel” and even the Holly & Berries.  The letters are from the Large Letters Framelits Die Set.  The Holly & Berries image is from the Every Good Wish Stamp Set in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  I was inspired by a layout I came across on Splitcoast Stampers.  My challenge was to create a similar layout using only Stampin’ Up! items.  The original was square and all the letter were connected as one die.  With our fun Large Letter Framelits Dies it lent itself to a long and narrow layout.  Woohoo……one of my favs!  Thank you so “SisterSandie” on Splitcoast Stampers.

The “holly berries” image was first inked with Old Olive and Real Red Markers, then stamped onto Shimmery White and finally fussy cut.  Then the “sparkly berries”, Basic Jewels Rhinestones, were colored with the new Stampin’ Blends Cherry Cobbler (Dark) alcohol based marker.  Sweet!  Finally the colored “berries” were placed onto the stamped image and then adhered with a glue dot to the “O”.

The face layer was placed directly onto the card base giving a faux embossed look.  Then the letters were popped with the new Mini Dimensionals.  The new Mini Dimensionals are only 1/4″ wide, they are great for those small dimensional needs.  Very cool!  By tilting the “O” slightly it added a bit of whimsy to the overall design.  My Type-A wanted all the letters straight but the tilt gave a slight quirkiness, like me.  [giggle]

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my clean and simple Shimmery Noel Holly Berries design.  Have a great day!

Every Good Wish, Holly

Every Good Wish, Holly

Today’s post is the third in this series featuring the Every Good Wish stamp set.  I had fun designing three entirely different cards.  You can check out Card 1 and Card 2 here.  I tend to coordinate my trios in some fashion, but this time I just ran amok.  (At least it wasn’t with scissors.  Lol!)  This was actually the first design that came to mind when I saw the “Holly & Berries” image.  I had my fingers crossed it would work, but it came out even better then I had hoped.  The colored rhinestones (a red Sharpie) put this Every Good Wish, Holly design over the top.

BASE:  If you can’t tell I’m a Type A person.  Lol!  The base starts with Real Red which I trimmed to fit the finished rectangle.

FOCAL:  To determine the size of the rectangle, I temporarily placed the sentiment and then stamped the the holly bunches in each corner.  I inked up the holly leaves with an Old Olive marker and the berries with a Real Red marker.  After completing the Whisper White layer I went traditional and added the Old Olive layer.  It felt a bit flat so I looked through my Annual & Holiday catalogs and was excited to use my new Burlap Background Stamp to give some cool texture.  I like that it looks like Designer Series Paper.  Woohoo!  This is the first bit of height so I popped it with Dimensionals.  Oh my gosh……it felt so flat and I realized I hadn’t incorporated any bling.  Yikes!  So I gave it the once over to see where this could be added.  Duh!  The berries were perfect.  [TIP:  To color the rhinestones I used a red Sharpie marker.  Very cool!]

SENTIMENT:  After temporarily placing the sentiment in order to stamp the Holly & Berries I decided it needed “more height”.  (giggle)  So, to add “more height” I stamped the sentiment (from the Every Good Wish stamp set as well) onto Whisper White with Memento Black.  Then I die cut the sentiment with an oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits and popped it with Dimensionals.  Perfect!!!

Thank you for stopping  by today!  I hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

Lovely Words Thinlits – Friend (3 of 3)

Lovely Words Thinlits - Friend (3 of 3)

Happy Independence Day!  I hope today finds you spending time with family & friends and enjoying their company.  We spent Sunday gathered with family and enjoyed a nice potluck lunch.  I went a bit overboard (Lol!) and made my usual deviled eggs, a healthy black bean & corn salad AND a yummy new chocolate cupcake recipe.  The cupcake was my nod to Hostess Cupcakes.  They were a HUGE hit!  I found a new chocolate cake recipe on Pinterest, it uses Chocolate Cake and Fudge Brownie Mixes.  While I was baking my first batch I thought ooh this could make a great Hostess Cupcake version.  I scooped out the center, filled it with whipped cream, then topped with chocolate ganache. Oh man they are soooooo yummy!!!

Okay, now that our mouths are salivating lets move to today’s post, it is my final design using leftover pieces from my first design that featured the Lovely Words Thinlits Dies.  As you can see I tried several different combinations before committing to the original version.  Lol……an understatement!  I had A LOT of leftover pieces and challenged myself to use them.  This clean and simple design is the third and final one I created.

BASE:  Today’s design is all about “layers”.  The base starts with Powder Pink, then a Powder Pink layer for a tone-on-tone frame effect.  Then to frame the three “friend” die cuts I layered a Textured Smoky Slate (vintage) rectangle onto a slightly larger Dazzling Diamonds rectangle.  I then popped those layers with Dimensionals to add height.

SENTIMENT:  The Flirty Flamingo, Basic Gray and Whisper White “friend”s were popped with Dimensionals to add more height.  (grin)  I felt it was still missing something so I scoured my stamps and decided to add “Hello” from the Sunshine Sayings Stamp Set.  It was stamped onto Whisper White with Basic Gray ink.  Then I layered it onto a slightly larger layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer and popped it as well with a Dimensional.

This clean and simple design makes for a great all-occasion card you can give to a friend or as a gift with the two previous designs featuring the Lovely Words Thinlits.  I hope you were inspired to take a second  look at those bits and pieces on your work table and create something to share.  I’d love to see what you create.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I also hope you have a great July 4th.
