Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Everyday Label Punch Art Sled

Everyday Label Punch Art Sled

Can you believe it?  There are only 17 sleeps until Christmas!  Eek!  This holiday season is going by so fast.  Today’s share is the second of four from my November Card Class.  When I came across Frenchie Martin’s Punch Art Sled I thought it was just adorable.  I also thought it was a fun way to keep the holiday season light and full of flurries.  [giggle]  I modified Frenchie’s by using the gobs of Wood Textured Designer Series Paper I have in my “stash”.  Okay let’s be honest… DSP hoard.

BASE:  The Soft Sky base is topped with Whisper White pieces torn on an angle and layered to create a sloped look that the sled could slide down.  First, to add some sparkle the torn pieces are spritzed with Wink of Stella.  Yes, Wink of Stella.  I opened the tube and poured it into a Stampin’ Spritzer, then spritzed onto the “slopes”.  Then they were layered onto the the Soft Sky base with the torn edges curled slightly.  This creates a super sparkly look in real life.  [sparkle, baby!]

SLED:  The Sled is made using 1/4″ strips of Silver Foil, then topped with an Everyday Label Punch body and finally a Duet Banner Punch Handle using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  The curved handle gives an old timey look.  This is achieved by punching the Duet Banner piece, then cutting it in half and finally trimming the ends straight.  1/8″ silver ribbon creates the steering rein and is then attached with glue dots.  [Twine would be a great choice as well.]

SENTIMENT:  After scouring my holiday stamp sets this sentiment from Flurry of Wishes jumped out at me.  It fit the snow theme perfectly.  Then by embossing with White Emboss Powder you get another layer of shine. Woohoo!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed today’s share.  If you’ve “gotta make it”  you can purchase supplies online at my Stampin’ Up! site below, just click on any image.

Bunch of Blossoms Stiletto

Bunch of Blossoms - Stiletto

Have you ever been looking around and have something catch your eye, even if just for a moment?  When this happens I stop and think “what about it caught my eye”……the color combination, the silhouette, a graphic quality.  In this case is was the silhouette (or should I say stiletto).  Lol!  I came across this in a fashion magazine, tore out the page and set it with my other “pages of inspiration”.

I was going though my “pages of inspiration” recently and more thoroughly looked at this shoe I thought “hey, I have something that I could use to make a card version of this”.  Guess what?  I DID!  It was the Bunch of Blossoms Bundle (stamp set and coordinating punch)  Woohoo!  I was mentally doing my “happy chair dance”.  [smile]

Bunch of Blossom Stiletto Design Inspiration

SHOE BASE:  I got to work and created a template for the shoe.  Amazingly our Grid Sheets worked perfectly to help guide the total size and proportions of the shoe.

After creating the shoe base template I then cut down a second template for the shoe upper. Yay!

The shoe base is Basic Black.  I heat embossed the heel and toe areas with VersaMark ink and Black Emboss Powder for that glossy look.  The shoe upper is Whisper White sponged with Peekaboo Peach ink.  [TIP:  I purposefully made sure the sponging wasn’t smooth to give the feel of suede.]

FLOWERS:  For the flowers was able to use to the small Petal Outline and and small detail Petal Images to build all the flower shapes.  I even layered them to create the largest center flower.  First, I sponged several strips of Whisper White with Peekaboo Peach ink, then stamped the “detail petal” with Memento Black ink, stamping off first.  [TIP:  Full strength was too overpowering].  Next I stamped the “outline petal” image with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Black Emboss Powder.  [TIP:  Very Important……Make sure to wipe the strips with your Embossing Buddy before stamping with the VersaMark Petal Outline. This makes sure everything is dry so the powder will only stick to the VersaMark stamped images.]

You’re going to love this…..I used the Clear Faceted Gems colored with a Black Sharpie for the flower bases.  Yes, LOVE IT!  I adhered them with glue dots.

FLOWER STEMS:  I laid the flower out for placement and then stamped the stems (also in the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set) with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Black Emboss Powder.  [TIP:  Ditto with the Embossing Buddy here.]  It did make a world of difference with the petals and stems being embossed.  Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment.  Lol!

STEM LEAVES:  Well, the shoe did have what looked like beads or sequins, so I went with sequins.  OMGosh!  We just happen to have the new “mini sequin trim” and in black.  Perfect!  This is were I almost gave up.  But I persevered and create these fun leaves with Black Mini Sequin Trim, Vellum and lots of adhesive.  First, I punched the leave shape from the Blossom Builder punch and coated it with Tear and Tape.  Next, I laid the trim and had to use mine glue dots as well.  I won’t lie…..the two leaves took me as much time as the three flowers.  Shew!  [TIP:  If we still had the Black Glimmer Paper I would have used it in a heart beat!]

Bunch of Blossom Stiletto Standing Up

Wow!  Was all I could say.  I was doing my happy chair dance when I finish this one.  I am already contemplating what other colors I would like to try this in.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post.  Remember, to keep your eyes open for inspiration anywhere any time.  Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you have a great weekend.

Oh So Succulent Sparkly Flirty Bird

Oh So Succulent Sparkly Flirty Bird

I just LOVE this little lady!!!  What a fun and sparkly flirty bird featuring the Oh So Succulents Bundle.  This sweetie makes me do my “happy chair dance” each time I look at it.  (smile) I came across an inspiring card on Pinterest (Yeah baby!) and instantly thought of Big Bird from Sesame Street.  (Giggles)  Thank you to for the inspiration, you can see the card here.

Well, I didn’t really want to do an all yellow bird so I went with shades of pink.  (Hello….my favorite color.  Lol!)  I also had loads of fun working with all the bits and pieces in the Succulent Framelits Die Set.

SPARKLY FLIRTY BIRD:  I started with the bird body first using the four the four varying sizes of 8-petal shapes.  Sponging the edges with Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride ink to add dimension.  [TIP:  The center flowers are Whisper White sponged with Blushing Bride.]  Then I stamped the ends of the petals with VersaMark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  [Heat & Stick emboss powder with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter would work too.]  All the other shapes where sponged as well to add dimension.  The tufts were stamped in Pool Party and die cut.  They coordinate with the “legs and beak” which were also emboss with the Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Love it!

BASE:  She ended up being large then I expected so I had to place her on a 5″ x 7″ size card instead of the normal A2 size (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″).  To make her pop I opted for a Whisper White base.  I embossed a face layer with the Brick Wall embossing folder then adhering it to the base.  Then I tore the edges of two Old Olive/Pear Pizzazz strips and sponged the edges as well.  Sponging the edges makes ALL the difference.

SENTIMENT:  There are several sentiments included with this stamp set.  Woohoo!  I love the “special person”, it goes fabulously with this Sparkly Flirty guy.  Woohoo!  I am sad that this bundle is on the retiring list.  [You can check it out here.]  Make sure to order soon before it’s gone.  ALSO……the individual Framelits and Stamp Set are on sale which makes them cheaper then purchasing the bundle.  Just sayin’!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great weekend and Easter!  AND I hope you enjoyed this fun and sparkly Oh So Succulent punch art bird.

Builder Birdcage, Congratulations

Builder Birdcage, Congratulations

Eek!  I had fun playing with another fun stamp set from the Occasions Catalog — Builder Birdcage. This would make a great Bridal or Wedding card for those special occasions.  (pun intended…Lol!)  After trying several different color combinations……I went with classic White and Silver.

DRESS BODICE:  With my clothing designer background I immediately thought the curved cage image would make a great dress bodice.  I embossed the “bodice” in silver and fussy cut.

DRESS SLEEVES:  I wanted to go sleeveless but it just wasn’t working for me. I had my a-ha moment while looking through the images and realizing OOH….this cage top would make great sleeves.  Sweet!  These were silver embossed and fussy cut too.

DRESS SKIRT:  You might be thinking……did I freehand the waist?  This had to be “perfect” so I used an oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to create the waist curve.  To tie the skirt with the dress I embossed a detail at the bottom of the skirt, which is also part of the Builder Birdcage stamp set.  Yay!

The Silver Dots Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate was the perfect background to make the dress pop.  AND of course it added another layer of shine.  Woohoo!

The final icing on the cake is the “Congratulations” sentiment from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  I love the tone on tone embossing that lets the dress pop.
