Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Gorgeous - Happy Birthday

Today I’d like to share my second design featuring the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set.  It is a great set that includes a variety of floral and balloon images as well as loads sentiments.  This happens to be the third design I created because I had several (and I do mean quite a few – Lol!) embossed flowers laying on my work space from my two previous designs.

I also like to give myself little challenges when designing and stamping to see what I can create that may be outside the box for the stamp set I’m working with.  This is something right up that alley, the flower “petals” are actually balloon shapes that I punched out with the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch.

BASE:  As the “pink” flower center was the focal point I wanted to highlight, I did my best to keep the “background” as neutral as possible.  The base starts with a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card size in Basic Gray.  Next I layered with a Smoky Slate square topped with a slightly smaller Whisper White square.  The Whisper White was stamped with “Happy Birthday”, also from this stamp set”, in Smoky Slate ink.  Then I popped the Smoky Slate square with Dimensionals. (Gotta have “more height”, yeah baby!)  Even though the Smoky Slate is a light gray I wanted it to be even more subtle.  [I tried stamping off first which made the words too light and not “solid” enough for me.]  Finally I added another layer, Vellum.  It let the “background” shine through but toned it down just enough.  (Woohoo!)  [TIP:  I placed adhesive in the center to hold the Vellum so it wouldn’t show through.]

FLOWER PETALS:  Trying to keep things as neutral as possible I (of course, giggle) stamped the dotted balloon shape onto Silver Foil and then heat embossed with Silver Emboss Powder.  Silver on silver……Love it!  I punched the petals with the Balloon Bouquet punch and forming the circle of petals in which to place the flower center.  Yes, I popped the petals with Dimensionals.  (Woohoo…”more height”)

FLOWER CENTER:  As this was the focus of this design, I of course had to emboss.  [smile]  First, I stamped the solid floral image onto Whisper White with Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette ink.  Next I stamped the “outline” image onto the solid image with VersaMark ink and heated with my Heat Tool to get the cool raised silver outline.  [TIP:  Make sure you tap and wipe your image with an Embossing Buddy before stamping the outline image.  So the embossing powder will only stick to the stamped image.]  Then I fussy cut the larger flower, popping it with yet another Dimensional.  Finally I punched the flower center with a 3/8″ Circle Punch and popped it with a Mini Dimensional (yes, we now have Mini Dimensionals……Woohoo!) and small Rhinestone.

SENTIMENT:  Even though the background says “happy birthday” I wanted to make a obvious this was a birthday card.  [grin]  So this meant I also stamped the “happy birthday” onto the Vellum with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Silver Emboss Powder.  This sentiment is included in the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set as well.  Wowzer!

OH, I almost forgot!  Here is a peek at the inside.  I’m trying to include something on the inside as well with my designs.  It doesn’t always happen, but hey, I’m trying.  Lol!

There ya have it.  I was able to use pieces I had laying on my work table AND using other image in a “not expected” way……Sweet!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you have a stamping-ly wonderful Friday and weekend.

Lovely Words Thinlits – Friend (1 of 3)

Lovely Words Thinlits Dies (1 of 3)

When I opened my box of new stuff I was excited to check it out and see what inspired me.  Well, I was inspired by the Lovely Words Thinlits Dies and I really love the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Shiny!!!  Then when I opened the package of paper I got even more excited because it has three different styles of foil designs in two of the new In Colors, Berry Burst and my fav Lemon Lime Twist, as well as Soft Sky and Tangerine Tango.

One of the designs has a chevron style which I cut into a strip.  Then I had my a-ha moment and decided to try cutting it on the zig-zag.  Loved it!  With that, I it pieced together (aka, paper piecing) to create a frame.  I layered this onto a Lemon Lime rectangle that I die cut the “Friend” from my new Lovely Words Thinlits Dies.  These are cool because you can leave them attached to your cardstock (today’s post), cut leaving a narrow frame using the Layering Ovals Framelits, and cutting it away to just use the word.  [Wink, wink, I will be posting examples of these two styles, so stay tuned.]

Yes, I did do some serious fussy cutting to create the frame, THEN I took it a step further and fussy cut the Whisper White framing layer below it. Oh YES I did!  What can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment.  I wanted to pop the Foil Frenzy framed layer and it really needed the Whisper White framing layer to make it stand out even more.  (grin)

Then I backed “friend” with Flirty Flamingo cardstock which I glued to the Whisper White.  This adds loads of dimension.  I did toy with making this a shaker card but then thought “nah” it would be too much.  (I did practice “less is more”, really I did.  Lol!)

Finally I topped the Lemon Lime Twist “friend” with a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer “friend”.  Hey, it still needed that pop!  (giggle)

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you have a stampingly wonderful Monday!

Basket Bunch – Egg-Stra Special Bunny

Basket Bunch - Egg-Stra Special Bunny

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and preparing for Easter next weekend.  I can’t believe we’re already a week into April.  Crazy!

As I was preparing designs for my March card class I wanted to make an Easter card the could be used for Easter or any occasion (almost).  This Basket Bunch – You’re Egg-Stra Special Bunny card was actually the first design I created using the Basket Bunch Stamp Set.  I loved how the eggs looked and had my “A-ha” moment that they would be great for my 13-in-one-derful series redone (aka – one sheet wonder).

BASE:  I kept it clean and simple, going with Thick Whisper White.  For the “mini eggs” square I started stamping and the stamp fit perfectly with one egg-stra stamped on each row.  By offsetting each row two eggs it keeps the random look.  As you know I’m not much in to coloring but these cuties were crying out “color me”, so I pulled up my big girl pants and did a minimal bit of coloring in Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum and Flirty Flamingo.  After I finished coloring and was doing my “happy chair dance” I of course thought “they need some sparkle”.  Lol!  I remembered “ooh!” Wink of Stella.  Oh my gosh it puts just the perfect amount of sparkle on those eggs and looks adorable to boot!  I layered it onto a slightly large Whisper White square.

BUNNY MEDALLION:  I stamped this adorable guy onto Whisper White and cut out two circles from Layering Circles Framelits.  I did minimal coloring on him as well.  Guess what?  He needed some sparkle as well so I added a rhinestone.  Lol!  Then to help make the colors pop I added banners.  To add “more height” I popped the medallion and banners with dimensionals.

SENTIMENT:  The sentiments in the Basket Bunch stamp set are cute and I had fun picking out what I wanted to use.  I stamped “You’re Egg-Stra Special” onto a narrow Whisper White banner with Memento Black Ink.  Then I popped this with Dimensionals as well.

I hope you enjoyed today’s design and are inspired (or CASE if you’d like) to create an Easter or “any occasion” card.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.

Love Bug Paisley Framelits

Love Bug Paisley Framelits

This sparkly Love Bug Paisley Framelits is my “make it work” Monday share featuring Paisley Framelits.  I was playing with the ornate paisley shape and happened to cut two opposite shapes.  When I laid them on the table I thought “hey, these look like eye shapes”.  These sat on my work table for a couple weeks before I had my “make it work” moment.  I found different Paisley die shapes to create the nose, mouth and tongue.  You may be thinkings “she’s so odd looking that she’s cute”.  Lol!  I’m right there with you.  It may not be some of my best designing but I wanted to do something with the eye shapes.  So there ya go.  [smile]

BASE:  It starts with Pink Pirouette cardstock and Ovals Collection Framelits to create the base. I sponged it with Pink Pirouette ink to give some dimension.

EYES:  Again, I used the “detailed” paisley from the Paisley Framelits die set and Blushing Bride Glimmer.  The eye outlines are backed with Whisper White and Basic Black to create the eye look.  I did add an arc of White Gel Pen to make the eye center pop.

NOSE & MOUTH:  The nose and tongue the same shape from the Paisley Framelits die set.  I trimmed away some to create a smoother tongue.  The mouth is the outline paisley shape trimmed down.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed my silly Love Bug Paisley Framelits.  AND I hope you have a great Monday!  Until next time happy stamping!
