Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!

Sale-a-bration Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!

I think this design is my way of wishing for the sunshine and warmth of spring to arrive. It’s been weirdly cold here in February and March, we’ve even had snow this month, very odd for Portland, Oregon. My share today is my Sale-a-bration “Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!” design.

Derek and I were walking in the mall and I saw this fun kid’s t-shirt. It had a rainbow cupcake on the front. It was just the right inspiration. The bright colors made me smile and feel warm inside. Another great part to this design was deciding what rainbow colors to use.

First, I embossed the Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade with the Subtle Embossing Folder, Then I layered them onto the Whisper White base.

Second, the cupcake was placed on top of the Whisper White rectangle that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. Also, I rounded the two opposing corners to soften the overall look.

Next, the cupcake wrapper was stamped in Smoky Slate ink and colored with the same colors as the strips listed above. I trimmed the “shadow” from the cupcake shape to clean up the look. The “frosting” is Whisper White cardstock stamped with VersaMark, then heat embossed with White embossing powder. I was going for a shiny frosting look. What do you think?

I was so happy when I found that Stampin’ Up! created the Call Me Cupcake Framelits die set. It is even more amazing that it coordinates with the Hello Cupcake Sale-a-bration stamp set. Woohoo! I’m one of those funny people that doesn’t mind fussy cutting, I find it relaxing. My ladies are always happy when they get to use a coordinating die or punch instead of fussy cutting. Lol!

To finish things off I added the “Celebrate Your Day!” another of the sweet sentiments also from the Hello Cupcake Sale-a-bration Stamp Set. After I started designing with this set I found it amazing versatile. This stamp set has fabulous sentiments as well fun cupcake building shapes.

Happy 65th Birthday – Triple-W Fold

Happy 65th Birthday - Triple-W Fold Exterior

Last week a co-worker had her 65th birthday.  We surprised her with lunch, a cake and flowers.  She was totally surprised and enjoyed all our birthday wishes.  Her favorite color is fuchsia so I set about creating her a card.  This is the Happy 65th Birthday card that I made for her.

I thought it would be fun to recreate the Triple-W fold card I made for my mom’s 70th birthday. [You can check it out here.]  This time I used the Springtime Foils Sale-a-bration Designer Paper.  I was excited when I opened the package and found the four different designs on glossy cardstock with silver, gold and copper foil embossing.  I will miss this paper terribly……embossing without all the work.  Love it!

To achieve this Fucia color I brayered the glossy paper with the In Color Berry Burst.  [TIP: After brayering I wiped with a paper towel to remove the excess ink on the foil stripes.  Drumroll please………….

Happy 65th Birthday - Triple-W Fold Interior

The base is two layers of Vellum.  You know I love me some Vellum.  Lol!  After placing the Silver Foil strips at the folds I adhered the interior W-fold bands, then applied the Silver Foil with off set Silver Glimmer letters.  At this point the interior folds looked empty.  So I thought about it awhile and finally had my a-ha moment to insert stacked presents.  Fabulous!

The presents are Glossy Cardstock pieces that I also brayered with Berry Burst and glued into squares.  They are topped with narrow strips of Silver Foil and embossed Silver Foil bows from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Monday and get inspired to stamp by today’s Happy 65th Birthday card.

Copper Marbled Happy Birthday

Copper Marbled Happy Birthday

Today’s post was inspired by a fondue pot I came across in a Crate & Barrel catalog.  It came in what I felt looked like a mix of bronze, copper and silver.  Sweet!  We happen to have all three of those in Foil Cardstock.  Woohoo! The Happy Birthday Thinlits and the new Marbled Background stamp combined together gave me the cool mixed metal shine I was going for.  I call it my Copper Marbled Happy Birthday.  What do you think?

Copper & Silver Fondue Pot

The Copper bands and Silver Foil Happy Birthday feel like the the fondue stand itself.  The Vellum gives an open feel for the Happy Birthday.  Finally, I was excited to get some ink on my new Marbled Backgound Stamp.  By Silver Embossing on the Copper Foil it gives a cool modern look.  This clean and simple design would be great for a guy or girl.  At least I think so.  (giggle)

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you found inspiration from my post today.  Have a great Tuesday!

ps, I just realized I put “swirled” instead of “Marbled” for the background stamp name on the image.  Eek!

Label Me Pretty, You’re The Best

Label Me Pretty Stamp Set

Today’s post is the second design from my July Card Class.  I posted the original version of this design several weeks ago for our local New Catalog Release Stamp Together.   It was one of three I created featuring the Label Me Pretty Bundle. [you can check it out here]

BASE:  The base started with Thick Whisper White layered with Lemon Lime Twist that was embossed with the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I felt it needed a bit more texture so dry embossing was my first choice.  [TIP:  You could also replace with a Designer Series Paper Print for a totally different look.]

FOCAL SQUARES:  To add a nice Faux Stitched Edge finishing texture to the Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink squares I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and Big Shot.  The cool thing about these is the set includes not only squares, but circles and ovals as well. (sweet!)  To keep the card light and bright I opted to frame the Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink squares with Whisper White.  It of course needed a bit of sparkle.  Lol!  So I used the new Pretty Label punch along with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper to create the scalloped tabs at the top and bottom.  [TIP:  You punch one shape and cut in half horizontally to make your glimmer paper go farther.]

SENTIMENT:  I really wanted to keep the design clean and simple so the sentiment would draw you in.  So I stamped the “You’re the Best” from the Label Me Pretty Stamp Set onto Whisper White with Memento Black ink and then punched with a 1-1/4″ Circle punch.  Finally, I added a lot of height by popping both squares and the circle with Dimensionals.  [More height is always a good thing!]

I very much appreciate you stopping by today and look forward to your comments!  Thank you and I hope you have a stamping-ly great Monday.

Lovely Words Thinlits – Friend (2 of 3)

Lovely Words Thilnits - Friend (2 of 3)

I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday weekend!  I also hope you get a chance to stamp a little this weekend.  Today’s post is inspiration for those of us that have bits and pieces laying around our work area.  Monday I posted my first design featuring the Lovely Words Thinlits and Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I had quite a bit of pieces that didn’t make the cut on my first design.  (cheeky grin)  When I cut the “friend” in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer I used a strip and the leftover “negative friend” called to me to make something with it.  That is what gave inspiration for this design.

BASE:  I have fallen in love with the new In Color Lemon Lime Twist and I went with the same color combination from my first card.  (Powder Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lime Twist – hey what do you know……they are all In Colors)  I started with the Powder Pink base embossed with another fun new Textured Impressions Embossing Folder–Polka Dot Basics.  The random dots give a float-y feel.  [I don’t know if that’s a word but I’m going with it.  Lol!]

BAND:  Here is the first hint of the soft and fun color combination.  I started with a band of Flirty Flamingo.  For another subtle texture I used the Faux Suede technique.  Next I added a very narrow band of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer (and I do mean narrow……that’s all it needed, sparkle layer #1).  Then I finished the trio with some of the new Lemon Lime Twist 1/2″ ribbon.  It is similar in look to grosgrain ribbon only lighter in weight, very pliable and very soft.  Sweet!

OVAL SENTIMENT:  This looks simple but there are some little tricks to pull it off……okay here we go.  1) Cut a Lemon Lime Twist oval (Layering Ovals Framelits).  2) Cut the Flirty Flamingo narrow oval frame (first the Lovely Words Thinlits, then oval from Layering Ovals Framelits).  3) Cut strip of Flirty Flamingo same width as Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer words (a little longer to trim later).  4) “dry fit” the oval frame and friend negative (sparkle layer #2) onto the Flirty Flamingo strip then glue each to the strip (I recommend either Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue or the Fine-Tip Glue Pen).  Then trim the FF strip to match the oval frame.  Woohoo!  We’re almost done.  Finally, place the completed oval over the band with Dimensionals and top the with a small Rhinestone for the final touch of sparkle layer #3.

I appreciate you stopping by today and hope you enjoyed my “leftover” make it work design.  Have a great holiday weekend!!!
