Wish For It All Silver Candles

Wish for it All Silver Candles

Last April I attended the Stampin’ Up! onstage event in Vancouver BC and received during my swapping a great fun fold swap. When I reviewed my swaps that night I came across a cool fun fold swap and thought “I have got to make a card using this fold!”. This fun ditty I’m calling my Wish for It All Silver Candles.

Today’s post is the fourth or fifth design (I love it that much!) I have created using this fun fold. I created this for one of my July stamp classes. The color combination is outside my normal palette but the three shades of purple (Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape) just came together. (giggle – who would have thought)

CARD BASE: The basic base size is 4.25″ x 8.5″ (11″), with 2.5″ cut away from the length. The base is scored at 4.5″, 5.5″, 7″ and 8″. The 2.5″ x 4.25″ rectangle is scored at .5″ and 1.5″ along the 4.25″ edge. Yes, go and cut a piece of cardstock, score it and use your tear and tape or multi-purpose liquid glue to create the rectangle. I KNOW! Pretty cool, uh?

CANDLES: So what goes good with purple???……why silver of course. I remembered that I recently purchased the Doily Wishes dies from the Wish for it All Bundle and had my a-ha moment that it included this candle shape. BAM!……Silver Foil meets candle.

SENTIMENT: The sentiment is from the Wish for it All stamp set that is also part of the bundle. Woohoo! AND the die that I used to cut the sentiment is another of the many cool shapes in the Doily Wishes dies. I did trim the froufrou from the label shape. The candles were enough visually so I wanted to keep the sentiment clean and simple. [Yes, I used froufrou in a sentence. Lol!]

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Friday and have enjoyed today’s Wish for it All Silver Candles ditty. Let’s go and get our fingers inky and have some fun!

Happy 65th Birthday – Triple-W Fold

Happy 65th Birthday - Triple-W Fold Exterior

Last week a co-worker had her 65th birthday.  We surprised her with lunch, a cake and flowers.  She was totally surprised and enjoyed all our birthday wishes.  Her favorite color is fuchsia so I set about creating her a card.  This is the Happy 65th Birthday card that I made for her.

I thought it would be fun to recreate the Triple-W fold card I made for my mom’s 70th birthday. [You can check it out here.]  This time I used the Springtime Foils Sale-a-bration Designer Paper.  I was excited when I opened the package and found the four different designs on glossy cardstock with silver, gold and copper foil embossing.  I will miss this paper terribly……embossing without all the work.  Love it!

To achieve this Fucia color I brayered the glossy paper with the In Color Berry Burst.  [TIP: After brayering I wiped with a paper towel to remove the excess ink on the foil stripes.  Drumroll please………….

Happy 65th Birthday - Triple-W Fold Interior

The base is two layers of Vellum.  You know I love me some Vellum.  Lol!  After placing the Silver Foil strips at the folds I adhered the interior W-fold bands, then applied the Silver Foil with off set Silver Glimmer letters.  At this point the interior folds looked empty.  So I thought about it awhile and finally had my a-ha moment to insert stacked presents.  Fabulous!

The presents are Glossy Cardstock pieces that I also brayered with Berry Burst and glued into squares.  They are topped with narrow strips of Silver Foil and embossed Silver Foil bows from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Monday and get inspired to stamp by today’s Happy 65th Birthday card.

Happy 70th Birthday – Triple-W Fold

Double-W Fold - Painted With Love

Today’s share is the 70th Birthday card I made for my mom last month.  I had just gotten my Occasions catalog preorder and fell in love with the Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and wanted to break it in.  As a demonstrator we get the opportunity to order and play with items from the Occasions Catalog that will be going live on January 3rd.  Yay! This design is what I call a Double-W Fold (Correction – Triple-W Fold) card.  It is an extended size card — 3-1/4″ tall x 22″ wide.

As it was her 70th birthday I wanted to give her 70 candles and remembered the set of candles die in the Window Box Thinlits Die Set.  I set out die cutting candles and was able to fit 35 candles onto each Melon Mambo band.  Woohoo!  Yes……I eyeballed the candles.  They are in groups of 5 so that made it not too difficult.  (wink, wink) To add more color and shine I filled in the empty spaces (folds) with 1″ Painted With Love SDSP strips.

Here is a close up of the inside letters.  They were cut from both Gold Foil and Glimmer.  The Glimmer adds just a touch of sparkle.  Who doesn’t need more sparkle to go with their shine.  (giggle)

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great day!

Gift Box in a Card – Red Glimmer Joy

Gift Card in a Box - Red Glimmer Joy

This fun card is the third from my October Card Class.  My stampers asked if we could start on Christmas cards a month early.  I was happy to oblige them.  Here is my take on the “Gift Box in a Card” design.  I found Rachel Tessman’s design and knew I wanted to give it a go.  Large Letters Framelits, Gold Glimmer, Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and Holly Berry Happiness Stamp Set round out this bright and sparkly design out.  Lol!

BASE:  I had the idea to have the “Joy” floating above the top of the card.  To achieve this I started with a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ (long and narrow) card base.  [This is one of my favorites sizes.]  I had just gotten the fun 2″x2″ Clear Tiny Treat Boxes and new they would be great for this.  So I cut a 2″w x 1-1/4″h opening in the center. This allowed for the “O” to fit on the box front and sit perfectly so the “J” and “Y” would float above the card at 4-1/4″ high.  [I know!  I surprised myself thinking of that.  Lol!]

LETTER:  I knew I wanted the letters to be Real Red with Gold Glimmer so I got the work and cut them using the amazingly versatile Large Letters Framelits.  I offset the Gold Glimmer slightly to add just a touch of sparkle.  [smile]  Then I placed them with Dimensionals centered on either side of the opening.  [I did place the box so I could determine where to place the “J” and “Y”.  [Type-A flag flying.  Lol!]

BAND:  I had been designing with the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and had scraps laying about and found this diagonal stripe, AND it fit perfectly!  That gave me my third color (Old Olive).  Woohoo!  I added more narrow strips of Gold Glimmer to tie with the “Joy” and then a final layer of Real Red to tie everything together.

SENTIMENT:  I found this pretty sentiment in the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set and Gold Embossed it onto a narrow strip of Whisper White.  I applied it with Dimensionals and cut a “V” in the end to make it pop.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a enjoyed today’s Gift Box in a Card and have a great weekend!
