Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!

Sale-a-bration Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!

I think this design is my way of wishing for the sunshine and warmth of spring to arrive. It’s been weirdly cold here in February and March, we’ve even had snow this month, very odd for Portland, Oregon. My share today is my Sale-a-bration “Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day!” design.

Derek and I were walking in the mall and I saw this fun kid’s t-shirt. It had a rainbow cupcake on the front. It was just the right inspiration. The bright colors made me smile and feel warm inside. Another great part to this design was deciding what rainbow colors to use.

First, I embossed the Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade with the Subtle Embossing Folder, Then I layered them onto the Whisper White base.

Second, the cupcake was placed on top of the Whisper White rectangle that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. Also, I rounded the two opposing corners to soften the overall look.

Next, the cupcake wrapper was stamped in Smoky Slate ink and colored with the same colors as the strips listed above. I trimmed the “shadow” from the cupcake shape to clean up the look. The “frosting” is Whisper White cardstock stamped with VersaMark, then heat embossed with White embossing powder. I was going for a shiny frosting look. What do you think?

I was so happy when I found that Stampin’ Up! created the Call Me Cupcake Framelits die set. It is even more amazing that it coordinates with the Hello Cupcake Sale-a-bration stamp set. Woohoo! I’m one of those funny people that doesn’t mind fussy cutting, I find it relaxing. My ladies are always happy when they get to use a coordinating die or punch instead of fussy cutting. Lol!

To finish things off I added the “Celebrate Your Day!” another of the sweet sentiments also from the Hello Cupcake Sale-a-bration Stamp Set. After I started designing with this set I found it amazing versatile. This stamp set has fabulous sentiments as well fun cupcake building shapes.

I appreciate you stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s Hello Cupcake Celebrate Your Day! design. Don’t forget there are only 20 left to get your free Sale-a-bration items. If you don’t know what Sale-a-bration is feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to share the the deets with you.

Glossy Smoosh Foil Hello

Glossy Smoosh Foil Hello

Glossy paper and smooshing make for a pretty and dramatic effect.  This Glossy Smoosh Foil Hello is the second card from my April stamp class.  We used a design from the Springtime Foil Sale-a-bration Designer Paper for this technique.

Mix Glossy Cardstock and ink with a spritzing of water and you too can create this simply fun technique.  I fell in love with the Springtime Foil Sale-a-bration Specialty Designer Paper.  So this was a no brainer in my book.

You could heat emboss images into Glossy Cardstock or use plain Glossy Cardstock.  Night of Navy, Island Indigo and Elegant Eggplant make for a dramatic color combination.

FRONT:  Take a Window Sheet rectangle (6″ x 12″) and fold in half.  Then scribble random splotches of color using Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy and Island Indigo markers (or any combination of 3 colors).  Next lightly spritz coloring with water, then place Glossy Cardstock into the folder with Glossy side onto the spritzed color.  Finally, fold the Window Sheet folder together pressing all around to “smoosh” the colors together.

When you open the folder, carefully lift cardstock and blot with a smooth paper towel.  [TIP: If you get paper towel markings just keep rubbing until smoothed out.]  Set it aside and let dry while you complete the rest of the card.

BASE:  The base is Elegant Eggplant.  Then layer with a square of Island Indigo and Springtime Foil Sale-a-bration Designer Paper popped with Dimensionals.

Apply the band of Island Indigo with the Faux Suede technique before applying.

SENTIMENT:  “Hello” from Oh Happy Day Stamp Set (vintage) was embossed in Gold into Silver Foil.  Punch “hello” and Island Indigo circles.  Layer circles and then pop with Dimensionals.

Glossy Smoosh Foil Hello Interior

Here is the interior of the card.  The “leaf” from the Falling Flowers stamp set was the closest match to the Springtime Foil Sale-a-bration Designer Paper so that is what I used.  It was Silver Embossed to mimic the designer paper.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you were inspired by this Glossy Smoosh Foil Hello design.  Let’s go get our fingers inky and have some fun.

Falling Flowers Bundle, It’s Your Day

Falling Flowers Bundle, It's Your Day

Woohoo!  I’m actually posting a card class design.  I was on vacation last week and was able to get many of my “to do” list items completed.  This being one of them.  I went outside my usual comfort zone with this design and love how it turned out.  Also, I’ve been wanting to design with my Falling Flowers Bundle so I was able to kill two birds with one stone (as the saying goes).  Lol!

BASE:  I started the base with Soft Sky layered with a Soft Sky Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper Square.  I just love this new Specialty Designer Series Paper!!!

FLOWER BUNCH:  The leaf stem was created from a piece of Lemon Lime Twist clear embossed then die cut.  [TIP:  After die cutting an embossed shape heat the edges slightly with the heat tool to smooth over the edges.]  Next I die cut the Soft Sky flower, it was a little to big for my liking so I trimmed away the outer ring of petals.  Finally I stamped two flowers onto Whisper White with Soft Sky ink and die cut one and then fussy cut the center from the second flower.  Oh, I almost forgot, I popped the center flower with the Dimensional and placed a 1/4″ Dazzling Diamonds circle in the center.  Hey, the flower needed something.  [smile]

SENTIMENT:  For the sentiment I stamped “it’s your day” from the the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set onto a Whisper White strip with Crumb Cake ink.  I popped with with Dimensionals as well.  It needed “more height”.  Lol!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a stamping-ly wonderful Monday and until next time……keep on stampin’!

Wood Crate Full of Falling Flowers

Wood Crate Full of Falling Flowers

This wood crate full of “Falling Flowers” was exactly what I had in mind when I first saw the Wood Crate Framelits Die Set in the new 2017-18 Annual Catalog.  I get excited when a new catalog is launched!  Why you ask???  Because I love perusing the pages and being open to inspiration or my imagination.

This crate of flowers makes a wonderful, long-lasting thank you gift for a special person.  Every time they look at it they will think of you.

CRATE:  The variety of wood images in the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack is fabulous and I felt the “white washed” paper would look great with the flowers and greenery.  Sweet!  You will need to cut two pieces from the Wood Crate Framelits Die to make the “crate”.  The Wood Textures Paper is 6×6 and uses two pieces to make a full crate.  I decided to cut off the top band after I had already cut them.  If I realized this beforehand it would have fit on one sheet of DSP.  (duh……just sayin’)

I built this like a “card-in-a-box” by adding two bands lengthwise to the interior.  This way I could attached the flowers to the bands and give height and depth when I placed them.

FLOWERS/LEAVES:  As you can tell I went BOLD with the flowers.  I wanted a fun summer feel and Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive (leaves) and my favorite new In Color Lemon Lime Twist hit the mark.  What do you think?  Lol!

My first layer of sparkle was to heat emboss all the flowers and leaves with Black Emboss Powder.  It ended up being subtle…I love it!  I did fussy cut ALL the flowers, yes there are two layers to each flower (what can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment).

My second layer of sparkle was brushing the narrow petals of each flowers with Clear Wink of Stella.  [I was super stoked to find that I got it to show in the picture!]  The Wink of Stella made the petals slightly darker……a cool side effect.  I popped the centers with Dimensionals for more “dimension”.  [giggle]

My third layer of sparkle is the flower centers.  OMGosh!!! I am over the moon with the FABULOUS new Glitter Enamel Dots.

Okay, on to the stems/leaves.  I did use the May Flowers Framelits to cut them out.  I’m crazy, but NOT that crazy.  [giggle]  Next, I attached the flowers to the stem/leaves and then to the interior bands.  I did cut several extra stems/leaves to fill in and give a fuller look.  Yeah baby!

SENTIMENT:  After some contemplation I decided to keep the sentiment (and band) simple.  I did think about using ribbon but I didn’t have any thing that I liked with it.  What???  Yeah that’s right, I don’t have all the new ribbons…yet…so, there ya go.  Lol!  I went with a narrow Sahara Sand band using the Faux Suede technique to add some ribbon-ish texture.

Finally I stamped the “thanks a bunch” from the Wood Words Stamp Set onto Whisper White with Memento Black Ink.  Next, I punched it with a 1″ Circle Punch, then I layered it onto a 1-1/8″ Sahara Sand punched circle.  Cool effect here……I drew around the edge of the white circle with the side of my Basic Black Marker to color just the edge.  Finally, I popped it with a Dimensional for even more dimension.  [giggle]

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have enjoyed today’s 3-D project featuring the Wood Crate Framelits and Falling Flowers Stamp Set and are inspired to create one yourself.

Beautiful You ~ Celebrate In Style [Sneak Peek]

Beautiful You ~ Celebrate in Style (Sneak Peek)

I hope I don’t forget anything today.  Lol!  I am still in a fog from this head cold I’ve been fighting since last Thursday night.  Here goes…today I have for you the second of three designs featuring the Beautiful You Stamp Set and Falling In Love Designer Series Paper from the upcoming 2017 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog that goes live January 4, 2017.  [Open…open…open only 5 more days.]  Woohoo!

I love this stamp set with its variety of images, squiggle shapes and loads of sentiments to choose from.  Today’s gold and champagne color palette is soft and dreamy.  Then gold embossing on her dress and gold foil on the hat add the perfect touch of glamour that we like to aspire to.  Lol!

BASE:  The base starts with Very Vanilla layered with the Glimmery Branches design from Falling in Love Designer Series Paper wrapped with the fabulous 3/8″ Sale-a-Bration Gold Metallic Ribbon.  [TIP:  Make sure to wrap the ribbon around the Designer Series Paper before adhering to the base.]

GOLDEN LADY:  I used a double layer of Vellum ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits Die Set to create the subtle backdrop.  Stamp the image onto the top oval with StaZon ink.  [TIP:  Let dry for a minute so it doesn’t smear.]  Next stamp it again onto Very Vanilla and (just the hat part) onto Gold Foil.  Then stamp the larger squiggle shape onto the her dress in VersaMark ink and heat emboss in Gold.  Guess what???  I did some major fussy cutting for the dress and hat.  I know, I know……it just had to be done.  [giggle]

SENTIMENT:  The “Celebrate” and “In Style!” are also from the Beautiful You Stamp Set.  They were stamped onto Very Vanilla with StaZon ink and fussy cut as well.  I did pre-cut a strip and stamp the “in style”.  These are then tucked behind the lady before adhering to the oval.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!  Stay safe and warm, and I’ll stamp with you in 2017.
