Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Sparkly Peacock Feathers

Do you think I used enough sparkle? Lol! Today’s Sparkly Peacock Feathers share is full of sparkle, shine and glitteriness. This is my second design using the Royal Peacock Suite.

The Royal Peacock Suite was at the top of my “must have” list from the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog. I love the Noble Peacock Foils (Old Olive, Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel). That is how I chose the color palette for this design.

BASE: I started with Bermuda Bay topped with another layer of Bermuda Bay embossed with the Beads & Baubles Emboss Folder. Next is the Bermuda Bay band with Blueberry Bushel foil peeking out on either side.

PEACOCK: I started with the Peacock from the Detailed Peacock Dies in Old Olive. Next I added fun, sparkly circles with Gold Glimmer, Pretty Peacock Foil, Blueberry Bushel Foil and of course an Old Olive Noble Peacock Rhinestone. For my inspiration on “of course” scoured Pinterest and found several images of peacocks among other things and created this combination. Finally, the body of the peacock is more of the Blueberry Bushel Foil.

SENTIMENT: Staying with the Old Olive and Blueberry Bushel Foil theme I embossed the sentiment onto Old Olive and cut using the Stitched Nested Labels and a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel label.

If you’ve been on the fence about the Royal Peacock Suite make sure to come back and check out my third design in a few days. It’s a wowzer! It’ll have you saying “dang, I really need to get that”. (giggle) I’d love to be your demonstrator and earn your business.

Dragonfly Dreams Bundle, Enjoy Your Special Day!

Dragonfly Dreams Bundle

I’m a bit behind in posting of cards from my April Card Class.  But better late then never……right?  Here is the first of four designs from April’s class. I was excited to play with my Dragonfly Dreams Bundle when I finally received it.  I was perusing Pinterest and found BJ Peters card and decided to have fun and CASE (case and selectively edit) her card.  Hers was monochromatic in Blushing Bride.  I chose to selectively add a bit of secondary color–smoky slate and used a stamp for the background instead of a watercolor wash.  (wink, wink)

BASE:  This cute and sparkly Dragonfly Dreams Bundle design starts with a Whisper White base layered with strips of Blushing Bride Diagonal Stripe Background Designer Series Paper.

RECTANGLE STRIP:  Stamp the “swoosh” from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set three times, slightly overlapping with Blushing Bride ink.  I choose to go this route to make it easier for class stampers.  They (okay it’s me) tend to like the consistency of stamping as opposed to watercolor swooshing.  (grin)

SENTIMENT:  Then stamp “enjoy your special day!” from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Smoky Slate ink.  Then die cut the Dragonflies from Blushing Bride Glimmer and popped with Dimensionals.  To finish things wrap the card front twice with Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine and tie with a bow.

Detailed Floral – With Sympathy

Detailed Floral With Sympathy 736pxl B-P

Good Monday Morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I had so much fun on Saturday afternoon stamping with a great group of ladies!  Thank you Amy P. for putting together a fun group.  We have started watching Games of Thrones through On Demand so Sunday we binge watched 3/4 quarters of Season 2.  I sure can see why people like it but man is it graphic with lots of chopping and spears with swords.  Yikes!

Today’s post is all about reusing your leftovers.  On Friday I posted a fun gift card holder also featuring the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies (if you’d like to check it out click here).  I just couldn’t let go of the Flirty Flamingo leftover face piece so I challenged myself to create another clean and simple design.  Adding the Dazzling Details Glimmer strip as well as the Mini Striped and Ruched Ribbons added a nice shine without being overly done for this sympathy card.

BASE:  The base starts with Night of Navy topped with Vellum.  I went with Vellum to keep the look simple and not complete with the die cut layer.  [TIP:  If you look closely you can see that the Vellum shows adhesive.  I would recommend gluing the die cut layer to the Vellum then gluing the Vellum to the card base so your adhesive does not show.  (just sayin’)]

FOCAL POINT:  After taking the negative pieces for my Friday post the positive remained.  I just couldn’t get rid of it so I made it into a second design.  After placing the strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer and topping with the Mini Striped and Ruched Ribbons I adhered it over the the Vellum.

SENTIMENT:  I went with a sympathy card as my “stash” is low on sympathy cards and I thought this was lovely.  The ovals are from the new Layering Ovals Framelits in Night of Navy layered with Whisper White.  I stamped the “With Sympathy” from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set with Night of Navy ink onto the Whisper White.  Then popped with Dimensionals.

I hope you have a great Monday and enjoyed today’s design.

Detailed Floral ~ Happy Birthday Gift Card

Detailed Floral Happy Birthday 736pxl B-P

Good Friday morning!  I hope you had a great week.  Mine was fun filled with designing simple and pretty projects and getting ready for a private class this Saturday.  The host is a regular to my Monthly Card Classes and with the new 2016-17 Catalog coming she was excited to host a private class for her family and friends.  I’m so looking forward to us stamping and having fun.  Eek!

Okay… I’ve also been playing with some new things from the catalog to share with you.  This is my first of two designs featuring the Detailed Floral Thinlits set.  My color palette is Night of Navy, Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White.  I really wanted the floral shapes to pop and I tried using Designer Series Paper for the die cut shapes as well as the background.  Both seemed to make them blend together.  So….my “a-ha” moment….when laying the Night of Navy die cut pieces onto Whisper White I was happy with the contrast, but wanted some of the shapes to pop.  Well….I cut the same shapes in Flirty Flamingo and  placed just the small flower bits into the open areas leaving the large flowers and greenery shapes open.  I just love how they all pop, both the open areas as well as the Flirty Flamingo shapes.  Aaaaaah.  [smile]

Then another of my “a-ha” moments was turning the orientation to portrait and instantly thinking “Ooh….that would make a great gift card holder.”  Woohoo!!!  Finally, I added a cute new Watermelon Wonder 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon band to keep everything neat and tidy.

BASE:  Whisper White 4-1/4″ x 11 scored and folded at 3-3/8″ and 8-7/8″.  This creates an offset Gatefold Card.

FOCAL POINT:  Well I think it’s the Night of Navy Detailed Floral Thinlits card front pieces.  Lol!  After die cutting both pieces in Night of Navy with the Detailed Floral Thinlits Die Set and removing all the bits.  Adhere them to the  corresponding sized card front flaps.  Then with the third die (an edge) cut away to excess Whisper White edges.  [TIP:  I tried to cut away to show just the Night of Navy but it left a narrow white edge.  I like it better that way.  A happy “not quite what I was going for” ending.  (smile)]   To create the gift card holder, I put lengths of Tear & Tape on either side of the smaller die cut flap.  [TIP:  I placed a mock gift card before adhering the lower flap to make sure there was a comfortable gap to slide the card in.]

FLOWER INSERTS:  Okay I did go a bit overboard and die cut the floral pieces again in Flirty Flamingo.  I placed just the flower bit into their respective places.  It’s almost too busy but not quite.  [wink, wink]  I love the color combination and adding a few small rhinestones added just the right amount of sparkle.  [To be honest…I so wasn’t about to die cut any more so that was the end of that.  Lol!]

SENTIMENT:  With so much going on with the floral die shapes I didn’t want something too busy, too big or too small, but JUST right.  [grin]  So I went the “Happy Birthday” from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set.  I stamped it onto a narrow Whisper White strip with Night of Navy ink and punched to length with the new Classic Label punch.  Then I layered onto gradually larger strips of Night of Navy and Flirty Flamingo hand cutting the ends to match the punched ends.

BAND:  Okay……gate fold cards generally don’t stay closed very well so I added a cute band which is the new 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon in Watermelon Wonder.  All I can say about this new ribbon is……yummy!

I hope you enjoy today’s design.  Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you have a great Friday and weekend.
