Hang Your Stocking Bundle – Merry Christmas

Hang Your Stocking - Christmas Stockings Merry Christmas

Today’s second of three designs featuring the Hang Your Stocking bundle is the perfect card to include with your last minute gifts.  The snowflake on the stocking called out for the Navy and White with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer color combination as well.

The “outside the box” way I used the Hang Your Stocking Bundle is the Faux Suede technique on the stocking base.  Okay, okay……it may not be totally “outside the box” but this technique added a nice subtle texture that plays well with its glimmer accents.   The varying sizes of square layers and embossing make a great focal area for the stocking to shine.  [Figuratively and literally, (giggle)]

BASE:  The base starts with Night of Navy layered with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer, another Night of Navy and then topped with Whisper White embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The varying sizes of layers added a nice framing effect for the stocking.

STOCKING:  I gave a Night of Navy strip the Faux Suede technique, then cut the “stocking” from the Christmas Stockings Framelits Die Set.  I layered this onto a solid stocking of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer.  Finally I topped the stocking toe, heel and cuff in Dazzling Diamonds as well.  I popped this with Dimensionals to add “more height”.

SENTIMENT:  This design lends itself to a clean and simple sentiment so I went with “Merry Christmas” from the Hang Your Stocking Stamp Set.  I stamped it in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White and……yes, ma’am……fussy cut.  This was popped with Dimensionals as well to add “even more height”.  [smile]

This post is fitting as we have had snow and ice yesterday and this morning.  Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great Friday and weekend!  Until next time……happy stamping!

Hang Your Stocking ~ Christmas Stockings Noel

Hang Your Stocking & Christmas Stockings

Good Monday morning!  I finally broke down and purchase the fun Hang Your Stocking bundle.  WOW…….I am so glad I did.  This weekend my design mojo was flowing and I created three designs with this bundle.  Today’s share is the first and I will share the remaining over my next few posts.

Snow always make me think of a blue and white color combo.  This time I went with Night of Navy and Whisper White AND added just a bit of sparkle with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer.  The Hang Your Stocking stamp set has this adorable mini snowflake that inspired me to create the strip that mimics washi tape. I used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer on the bottom layer of the strip and as a shadow effect on the “Noel” from the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies Set.

The embossing and torn edges of the Whisper White band make the mini snowflakes and “Noel” pop as well as add texture.

BASE:  I went with a Long & Narrow size card (3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) in Night of Navy layered with a Whisper White band.  The edges of the band were torn and then embossed with the Soft Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

FOCAL BAND:  Stamp the Mini Snowflake from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set onto a 3/8″ Whisper White strip with Night of Navy ink.  Then I layered it onto slightly wider strips of Night of Navy and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer.  [TIP:  You’ll need to use Tear & Tape to adhere the Night of Navy onto the Glimmer.  Tear & Tape, Dimensionals and Glue Dots are the only things that will stick permanently to Glimmer cardstock.]

SENTIMENT:  Guess what?  No stamping here.  Sweet!  The “Noel” is from the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies Set in Night of Navy.  Then a second layer from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer that I slightly offset to add more dimension and a bit more sparkle.

Santa’s Sleigh Bundle ~ Winter Scene

Happy post Thanksgiving Day [slash] Black Friday!  Christmas here we come!  When I first saw the amazing Santa’s Sleigh Bundle in the SU 2016 Holiday Catalog I immediately imagined this Double-Z Fold card.  At the time I was working on designs for a swap I was participating in.  We needed to create three designs using our designated stamp set.  So I turned this into a trio of cards [you can check them out here #1, #2 and #3].

When it finally came to designing for my annual Christmas Card Class this month this was the first card I created.  [Love it!]  I wanted to have the feel of snow and I love the Soft Sky, Silver Foil and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer/Whisper White color combination.  AND the interior fold area I used the “card in a box” addition of a band for the “tree” to add dimension.

BASE:  Soft Sky base folded into a “Z’ fold.  The “snow” band is folded in the same manner then turned 180 degrees and flipped.  I was on the fence about the “snow” embossing with the Seaside TIEF but now I like the nice bit of texture it adds.

SENTIMENT:  “A very Merry Christmas to you” is from the Reason for the Season stamp set and embossed in Silver.  [TIP:  You’ll want to emboss before adding your items to the band.]

WINTER SCENE:  First, I started with the “trees” from the Santa’s Sleigh Bundle Framelits.  The right one is flat, placed at the top of the card.  The second is attached to the interior band (similar to the Card in a Box bands), flush with the bottom of the card.

Second, is the Sleigh, start with Silver Foil for the base then cut a second in Whisper White trimming so only the body remains.  Next is the “swirly overlay” in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer.  Adhere just the bottom half of the sleigh body at a slight upward angle.

Third, is the important Reindeer that are going to pull Santa’s Sleigh with all the toys.  [smile]  These guys are cut from Silver Foil with their legs glued to the band, also at slight upward angles.  I just had to add a wee bit more sparkle……the bows on the Reindeer are Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer too.  [giggle]  The rein (Whisper White Baker’s Twine) is added with glue dots and topped with the adorable bows.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s shiny and glimmery filled design.  [wink, wink]  Have a great Friday and wonderful weekend!

Winter Tin of Tags & Vintage Leaves

Good Monday morning!  I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends this Thursday, Thanksgiving.  It’s only three sleeps away.  Woohoo!  I designed this layout originally in Fall colors.  [You can check it out here.]  I loved the layout so much I had an “a-ha” moment and decided to try it in a winter color combination……Silver, Blue and White.  Oooooh pretty!  I was over the moon with the finished design.  The Tin of Tags sentiment and variety of Vintage Leaves looks great.

BASE:  The base starts with Soft Sky layered with Silver Foil, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White embossed with the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  [TIP:  You can emboss and die cut the Long Leaf and Sentiment from the Silver Foil and Small leaf from the Bermuda Bay layers before applying to the base.  Sweet!!!]

EMBOSSED LEAVES:  Then I knew the leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set would look amazing embossed in Silver as well.  Then all I just die cut them with the Leaflets Framelits.  Woohoo……no fussy cutting!  [TIP:  I put one dimensional at the end of each leaf and mono-adhesive at the stem end to give just a bit of dimension.  I wanted them to look “slightly” curled.]

SENTIMENT:  I felt the “joy to the world” from the Tin of Tags stamp set was a nice compliment to the embossed leaves.  This guy was popped with dimensionals.  “More height” please.  Lol!

I hope you enjoy today’s layout “part 2”.  Thank you for stopping by today and I hope thank you have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!

Candy Cane Lane ~ You Are Sweet

Good Monday morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I was cleaning up after having finished designing for my classes later this month [you can check them out here] I had leftover pieces that didn’t make the cut. OMGosh!  I made a pun….Lol!  I have seen this (what I call a) double fold online and decided to gave it a whirl.  The Gumdrop design is from Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper.  It is on the base as well as the right front flap.  The Candies are also from the same Designer Series Paper pack.  What I love the most about this design (well two things)…first, is that I used leftover pieces sitting on the table AND second, that the design can be given any time of the year.  Yes!  “You are sweet” is a play on the candy designs.  Love it!

BASE:  I’ll admit I’m not much of a fan of Cucumber Crush but the Crumb Cake and Real Red called for a bright vibrant green.  The Cucumber Crush base is 4-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″.  The inside base and right flap are layered with Real Red and Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper Gumdrops design.

INTERIOR FOLD:  Real Red (3″ x 8-1/2″) folded in half.  Layered with Cucumber Crush and Whisper White.  The interior is layered with Whisper White.  Adhere centered on base with the fold on the left.

SENTIMENT:  The candies are from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper.  They are clear embossed and then punched out.  Yup….that’s my first bit of shine.  (smile)  Then clear emboss Real Red cardstock and die cut “sweet” from Cupcake Cutouts Framelits.  Adhere “sweet” with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  [TIP:  Reheat slightly to smooth the edges.]  Woohoo……that was the second bit of shine.  Lol!  Finally top “sweet” with “you are” from Sunshine Sayings stamp set in Early Espresso on Whisper White.

Thank you for popping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s design featuring leftovers and not a “Christmas” card.  Have a great Monday!
