Reason for the Season – Poinsettia

Reason for the Season - Poinsettia 736pxl

This year has flown by for me.  I can’t believe there are only 130 days until Christmas.  Eek! / Woohoo! depending on how you look at it.  Lol!  I’ve been eyeing the Reason for the Season stamp set in my stamp stash and thought what the heck, let’s do a Christmas in July card.  [grin]

BASE:  I went with Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black for my color combination today.  The base is embossed with the new Petal Burst embossing folder.  I love the all over effect it gives, very neutral.  [smile]  Wrapping the Gold Satin Ribbon adds my favorite thing……sparkle!  Lol!

FOCAL POINT:  The Poinsettia image uses 3-step stamping.  It’s way cool…..you stamp the outline first (in Archival Basic Black ink), second ink up the Poinsettia Petals with Cherry Cobbler ink  (I spritzed them lightly with water to give a watercolor effect) then stamped onto the Watercolor Paper.  It’s okay if it doesn’t line up perfectly because the watercolor effect has the color running/smearing slightly so no one will be the wiser.  [wink]  Third, ink up the Poinsettia Leaves with Garden Green ink (spritz them lightly with water as well) then stamp.

I cut ovals and layered them in Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler as well as the Poinsettia image.  I went outside my comfort zone and angled the ovals slightly.  (What! you say.  Lol!)  I really like the way it left room for the sentiment.  Woohoo!  AND it was, of course, popped with Dimensionals.  What can I say, it needed height.  Lol!  Oh, I almost forgot that the center was colored with a Crushed Curry marker AND the white of the Poinsettia Petals I brushed with Wink of Stella Clear to give more shine.  [LOVE IT!]

SENTIMENT:  I mimicked the oval layering with Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler.  The “Peace be with You” is one of the many sentiments included in the Reason for the Season stamp set.  I used 1-3/8″, 1-1/2″ and 1-3/4″ circles.  This was popped with Dimensionals as well.  [Gotta get more height!]

I hope you enjoyed this Christmas in July Poinsettia card and give 3-step stamping a try.  Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you have a great Monday!
