I was excited when I found this weeks TGIF Challenge fit with today’s post. I hope you have fun checking out all the ideas created using Sale-a-Bration items for inspiration. (#tgifc147) This is my second of three designs with the black, white and red color combination. Not only did I use the Happy Wishes SAB stamp set, I also used just one 6″x6″ sheet of black & white stripe from the Tutti-frutti Designer Series Paper (for all three designs), as well as Red Glimmer paper for added sparkle. [giggles]
CARD BASE: One of my favorite card shapes is the “long and narrow” (5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″). This stamp image lends itself to this shape of card. The inspiration for this design was the Black & White Stripe Tutti Frutti DSP. I envisioned a striped frame with mitered corners. Because the stripes are random sizes I mitered them the best I could and created this cool looking frame. Yay! Hello……Red Glimmer was a natural fit for the framing layer behind. [TIP: You’ll need to use glue dots, tear & tape or dimensionals to keep anything attached to Glimmer paper.] To add height I popped the glimmer and dsp frame layers with Dimensionals. Woohoo, this is my first layer of shine (or should I say sparkle? Lol!
EMBOSSED HAPPY: The “happy” image in the Happy Wishes SAB stamp set has flowers across the bottom. By using the Color Coordinated Embossing technique on the “happy” I created a second layer of shine.
Next I heat embossed the “happy” stamp a second time on a scrap of Whisper White, then colored the flowers with a blender pen and Real Red and Old Olive ink. Next I fussy cut the flowers and placed them onto the “happy”. If you’re counting that’s the third layer of shine. (smile) I also popped this Basic Black and White layer with Dimensionals. (More height please. Lol!)
EMBOSSED BIRTHDAY: To finish this fun design I also color coordinated embossed the “birthday” with Versamark and Real Red ink. I then fussy cut this as well. What can I say……I’m a glutton for punishment. Lol! Yes, this is my final layer of shine (# 4). For the final layer of height I popped this as well with Dimensionals. Oh yeah, it called for it. You can bet my “happy chair dance” was in full force with this one. [giggle]
COLOR COORDINATED EMBOSSING: How do you color coordinate emboss, you ask? To color coordinate emboss you lightly (I do mean lightly) ink the stamp with VersaMark then ink the image with the color desired and stamp onto your cardstock. Sprinkle this with Clear Emboss Powder and heat until melted and shiny. This technique is an easy way to emboss in any color you want. Sweet! [TIP: Make sure to thoroughly clean your stamp after each stamping. Otherwise you will make a mess of you VersaMark ink pad.]
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s second of three designs and will pop back and check out the remaining third design. Have a great day!
