Good Monday (oops, I mean Tuesday) morning! I had a great weekend I hope you did as well. I was able to take Friday off from work so I had four fun and busy stampin’ filled days to play. Woohoo! I worked on prepping for the retreat I’m participating in this coming Saturday. My make-n-take designs are complete. Yay! I did have to pre-prep some pieces so the stampers can keep to their 30 minute allotted time for making three cards……embossing and die cutting, oh my! We had to purchase a new washer and dryer on Thursday, ouch! Then Saturday evening (our delivery window was 5:45 to 7:45) they were scheduled to deliver our items. Well, a call an hour later by my hubby we were told they should be there in about an hour. Ha! They finally arrived at 11:15pm. Yes, 11:15pm! They were supposed to set them up but we told them just leave them in the hallway and cart away the old set. We could tell they were extremely happy about that. Those poor guys were overbooked that day. It took us all day Sunday to get the laundry room ready. Derek had to remove part of the door jamb because the dryer was 3/8″ of an inch too wide. Then we had to raise one of the cabinets so the dryer door would open AND he had to switch the swing on the door. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and handy husband! Most of the time was spent installing the dryer. The washer took probably 25 minutes tops. Monday was a restful and relaxing one. We even went to see Pitch Perfect 2……OMGosh we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was just as good as the original. 4.5 stars!!! A must see.
Okay, now on to today’s post. I’m finally getting around to posting the first of the five cards we made in my May Card Class. It is a super cute shaker card that I saw demonstrated on YouTube by Jen Arkfeld. It is super clean but the fun foam makes it easy to create a shaker card at home. Thank you Jen! First thing is to stamp Celebrate! from the Celebrate Today stamp set (which come in a bundle with the Balloon Framelits set) with StaZon White onto a window sheet square and set aside to dry. StaZon does dry very quickly but it takes as while longer on the window sheet. Then the base is Coastal Cabana, followed by a layer of Baked Brown Sugar, Fun Foam and topped with Whisper White. By adding the Baked Brown Sugar layer I had to add a square of Coastal Cabana behind the Fun Foam to get the base card Coastal Cabana color to show through the shaker. The Balloon shape was die cut with the Balloon Framelits set. You die cut both the cardstock and fun foam at the same time. Then stamp the Balloon Tail before building the shaker. The “shaker bits” are InColor Sequins and Silver Glimmer stars punch from the Confetti Stars Border punch. After I glued mine together I just couldn’t resist shaking it. (Hello…it is a shaker card. LOL!) The tips from the sequin stars stuck into the side of the shaker area. Needless to say the bits don’t move around much any more, but I really like how they look around the edge of the balloon. What do you think? I love to hear your comments.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Tuesday!
